HOME-BUILT PCS

Featured Replies

Of those user who report problems with FS( not loading, crashing, low fps, etc are using home-built pcs as opposed to commercially built ones?I'm using an 18 months-old standard Dell 2350 Dimension as follows:2GHz Celeron processor512 Mb RAM60 Gb hard disk (7200rpm)Intel Extreme GraphicsWindows XP HomeNokia 445XVa monitorI have had very few CTDs and get 14-18 fps flying a Cessna 172 or similar which I prefer, with full UK VFR Scenery, admittedly without AI traffic.I could get higher fps, but I find the present level acceptable and flyable and I'm reluctant to spend a further 50% of the cost of the Dell for an uprated video card which (according to comments in the forums) may not function better.

Homebuilt w/ no problems.

I have both home built and commercially built computers and I seem to have more problems with the commercially built ones than I do with the computers that I build. Philip Olsonhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg

Me too. Home made, with good material, no problems!

Home built here and no issues whatsoever. I get very good FPS. I believe the majority of FS issues are Windows releated and not so much harware related since I have seen very fast machines that run FS not so good.Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. Home built here. The only problems I've had are the seasonal CTD's last winter... neutered the Terrain.cfg and all is well.Greg

Commercial, built by my local guy.No problems.Peter Sydney Australia

Home built, no problems at all.Ed

Homebrewed here and no problems at all. I believe there are very few commercial machines that will measure up to a good homebuilt when the box is used for serious gaming.Doug

Build me own, no problems.

Homebuilt and runs fine. I still have my 3 yrs old motherboard which first saw the light attached to a Duron 850(!). A cheapo ECS K7S5A with which, If memory serves me well, other forum members were well acquainted (Randy, am I correct?). Regards,
