January 7, 200917 yr I'm having very few problems with ASA as well. I've been happy with the program. I'm running good old WinXP 32 bit, FS9 and FSUIPC. I've not seen one crash so far. I've only seen the occasional weather weirdness from time to time, but nothing critical. Overall the program has been great on my setup. Flying in the mountains is very interesting now with the varying winds. Hopefully everyone else's issues will get resolved soon enough. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
January 7, 200917 yr Does anyone know, will Gorund Enviornment Pro connect with ASA like it does with AS6.5?
January 7, 200917 yr Does anyone know, will Gorund Enviornment Pro connect with ASA like it does with AS6.5?Yes :)The way it works with ASG or other textures is a little different, but GE Pro works the same way as before. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
January 7, 200917 yr Another flight success!!!!!!! Notice memory usage, and here's one big thumb up for ASA:
January 8, 200917 yr I don't know that there's cause to celebrate there...I see FS9.exe at the top of the list above it with nearly 3GB of process memory...that's definitely not normal. My friends with OOM errors are not seeing ASA bombing, but rather FS itself. I'm wondering if ASA is doing something to cause FS to look for cloud textures that aren't there...that'd trigger the well-known FS9 texture memory leak. At any rate, 3 or 3.5GB of process memory is very likely a stop on the road to OOM-ville. I rarely see above 1.5GB in FS9 with complex acft, wx, and sceneries together.RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case

As I previously said, I spent last 6 months in various systems, and configurations, testing what might be causing this, if there is a kind of memory leak. True, there are sceneries that leak a bit, examples are EFRO in Finland, FSQuality Croatia, and some more (there is a doc on the aerosoft forums about this), but as I fly into London, where most of airports have their own scenery, which are not light, I believe the usage can top as much as 3GB. It's not like the usage creeps up to the 3GB, but rather it is around 1,7 along the whole flight, then about 1,8 when over England, and then climbs up to 2,9 when near London and Heathrow. I still didn't test other airports since I have the 64bits, but will do.Leaking of the scenery is completely different thing, it can be noticed as you are even sitting at the airport, the memory will creep up at some rate, no matter what you do. That is not the fact at ESSA or EGLL (the flight where the pictures were taken). And I don't believe ASA has anything to do with the memory, compared to ASV, because I used ASV until very recently, and I saw absolutely no change in memory behaviour.Btw. are you measuring your 1,5GB with the process explorer (virtual size)?
January 11, 200917 yr ASA SP1 (beta) is out...and among the listed fixes is one for OOM errors.Initial feedback from my trusted circle of friends is positive...so far, post patch, nobody is seeing the time change CTD, cloud popping in FS9 seems to be fixed, and wind behavior is better. And no OOM errors, but nobody's made any long flights with it that I know of yet.Bob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
January 11, 200917 yr Active Sky Advanced has been released.I know it's very fresh but has anyone tried it?http://www.hifisim.com/asa.phpI've been a longtime user of ASv65 and wonder if it is worth upgrading. It's not an easy decision whether to buy or not since December is a credit card killer, especially with PMDG MD-11 to come next days hopefully. And I've already bought FSDT LSGG and an AES credit pack this month.I will be very grateful to any ASA buyer who shares his impressions here. Thanks in advance!Best regards,RafalNo issues here.I'm running the original release ASA on stock XP/SP2 (no 3GB setup), FS9patch1/AISmooth/Radar Contact/LDS767/PMDG737 on a dual core with 2GB RAM and have not had any errors. Video card is a stand-in and is not the greatest, original one fizzled out months ago. I'm waiting to build a box. I run about a dozen AI airlines at 75-80%.
January 12, 200917 yr Another flight success!!!!!!! I believe there are some sceneries that "leak" the memory, but I will rather see the 3GB VS, than going through all of that searching for "bad" files. As long as they don't cause a CTD, and memory is growing a bit, but can't OOM, that's fine. I might look out when I fly to some specific area (like London), but beside that... just let it be ;)Funny thing is, FS9 is not working a bit slower with 3GB VS.Yes, of course I modified it. I used some explorer-thingy, don't know the name now, cuz I am away on my skiing vacation. But remind me if you need to know on Sunday.

January 13, 200917 yr ASA has not caused me a problem in either FSX or FS9. However, in FS9 I do notice that if I change weather conditions the clouds change but the winds don't. January 13, 200917 yr Man, after seeing these posts regarding ASA, I am rethinking the decision to purchase the upgrade. I sure don't want to start getting OOM errors since I use XP 32bit system. Apparently OOM is the theme of the day :(Well, well...just as I post this, several others have mentioned a beta patch that may have cured the OOM errors. Maybe I should have waited a second or 2 to post this :( Joe

January 13, 200917 yr Where is this ASA SP1? If I get this upgrade today, I would like to know where I could pick up the SP as well. I didn't see it on HiFi's website. At the top of their forum page, first link, here at Avsim. http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=240125 It's a beta, but no one is having any issues because of that, so SP1 will probably be out very soon. I'm really loving ASA so far.Btw, SPs are always posted here in their support forums, so that's where I look, as opposed to the website. - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
