This problem seems to be very common, and sadly, there doesn

Core i7 8700K @ 5.0, 2080 Ti FE, 32Gb 3600 RAM, M.2 SSD, Valve Index.

I've been using W7 x64 since build 7000, and never had FSX crash once. Certainly not left clicking any main or sub menus. Can you give me an instance of where you get a right click CTD?Maybe it's because I haven't installed Acceleration ... ?

Has anyone had problems loading flight plans..................looks like the same problem with choosing scenery folders.

It happens on any flight when you access the menus more than a few times by right clicking. Some people get a CTD after less than 10 clicks, for others it's more than 20. This may be related to how much RAM is installed in the PC. I right click quite alot to check out the ai traffic on a long flight. According to posts in other forums, many people get this even with FSX installed without the service packs.

I was able to trigger that bug too...after using the menu to switch between AI planes many times.I normally don't use either the right-click menu or the regular one during flight but I can see this becoming a huge problem for some users. I hope this is fixed before Win7 final is shipped, or a patch for either FSX or Win7 is released...Either that, or some clever user will have to figure out a way to work around the bug because a lot of simmers will want to switch to Win7 when it comes out. It brings quite a few worthwhile improvements over Vista and especially XP.

1. Directly from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspx2. You can install it on a separate partition and dual-boot, but you will need to use another program to prepare this partition. The Win7 setup program can only create new partitions and delete old ones, not resize existing ones.3. In general, anything that worked with Vista should also work with Win7 since the two OS'es use the same drivers. However there are some exceptions and some instances where you can only use basic built-in drivers, lacking some special functionality.

Thanks anyhow New partition done. Now wait for installation. My questions are:1) can I set up Windows7 as a default OS or I need to select every time when start the PC?2) The FSX and accessories set up (FSUIPC, IvAp, Squawkbox, internet connection, Serinfo, buttons on Yoke, etc...) must be configurated again or its kept anyway? Thanks Krisztian

Krisztian,What you want is EasyBCD. Install it from Vista and it will let you choose your OS at startup. I have XP, Vista x64 & W7 x64 installed. Default OS is W7 which will start 8secs after menu display. I boot into XP for FS9 flights.

I don't understand anyway why people insist on putting multiple system boots on the same drive :( -- with harddisks being so cheap these days. Just plug in a new HD, install your desired OS, boot the desired system via bios (for example EVGA MB) or popup-menu (ala ASUS MB) and there, never any conflicts or problems... Gert
I was just wondering if someone can assist me with my Windows 7 and FSX build. I have a pile of manual scenery and aircraft to add to my FSX build, but need access to the documents and Settings or User folders to edit them manually. But I am locked out of them - locked files saying Access Denied. Some docs and settings or users folders appear to be shortcutsHow does one gain access to all of the files and folders on the C drive to be able to edit them??This security clampdown in Vista and 7 is drving me crazy! Also should a specific Windows 7 forum be started in Avsim forums? I tried doing a search for windows 7 related items and kept getting error msg as it said the search criteria contained too few letters (ie 7).Thanks,Dave

Hi Dave,I tried this trick and it worked very well with unlocking the folders that you need. As far as I know it will work with all folders that are locked.Right click the folder and choose "properties".Click the "security" tab and then click "edit" and then click "add" and then click "advanced"Click "object types" and then tick "groups" and then click "ok" and then click "find now"Scroll to the bottom of the list and then highlight "Users" and then click "ok". "ok"Highlight "users" and tick the boxes for "read" and "write" (and any other permissions you want).Click "ok" "ok"Ed

Try setting the properties on the FSX.exe to run in XP compatibility mode.jja
