ultimate traffic 2 --- Is there realistic traffic

Featured Replies

One of the greatest selling points of MyTrafficX is the fact that the traffic level and airlines worldwide are detailed and well done.I am currently using TrafficX from Justflight, the models are far by far better than MyTRafficX, but in many 3rd world airports the traffic is unrealistically thin on the ground. Can anybody shed light on how UT2 performs in the area of traffic distribution worldwide, cause i have heard some say that the traffic in UT2 is only realistic for US and europe.

Well, I can tell you this much. They base the schedules off of the airlines real world schedules that are published. So if they have a published schedule for what ever airline or airlines your concerned about, then that airline will be where it is supposed to be. The only draw back is that if it is an airline that a paint is unavailable for then it will be displayed in a default UT2 paint. You can go through the UT2 UI and sort the airlines by which ones are missing paints and assign them to other paints/models that you already have. There were a few that were missing and I just assigned those to some of the WOAI paints I already had installed prior to when I got UT2. On another note, they dont provide AFCADS/ADE files with UT2 like they did with the original UT. So if you have a default airport with not enough parking or correctly sized parking then you may not see all the planes that you were expecting.I have had it since the day it's came out and I can honestly say its one of the best addons I have gotten so far.

They do have a small bug with injecting traffic that has caused some small/brief pauses for some folks while they are in mid-flight. I know they are working hard to get it resolved. Overall, the traffic is really good and I sat on the taxi-way at DFW the other day waiting for 10 AA flights ahead of me to take off. If you have TCAS on any of your aircraft, be prepared to get plenty of warnings on arrivals and departures! It has completely changed my experience in flightsim. Now I just need to find a good ATC addon that does SIDS and STARS.

Do you know if they have any updates?

Wouldn't want to sound pessimistic, but you might as well stop if you're looking for an addon that controls AI planes and makes them fly SIDs ans STARs - there isn't one and there won't be. At least until Microsoft comes up with a version that allows such control over AI planes. Even with that, you can only imagine how much work it would be to create all that data for thousands of airports and keeping it up to date..Then again, there are ATC addons that allow YOU to fly them.

I wouldn't get too excited over actual airline schedules. The airline I work for may change their flight schedule multiple times in one month. I think it may be job justification for the scheduling department. We used to change the schedule twice per year. Once in the spring and once in the fall. How I long for the good 'ol days!

Have they fixed the problems with UT2? Because of their hide-the-problems-forum we have to idea what is happening.

I doubt Flight1 tries to hide anything, if you have concerns about UT2 ask in the generel discussion forum, im sure they will answer everything. The support forum are limited to people who have a licensed copy, no one else need to be in there.

I've had it since the day it was released and haven't had any problems with it that haven't been addressed since the last hot fix. They are currently working on a service pack that will add a couple more features. Although, just like any addon there are those few who will have problems with it for whatever reason. That's going to be the case with any addon thought. I love it and wouldn't trade it for any other traffic program, freeware or payware. If your truely serious about buying it, I would buy it now and start enjoying it, then update when the next service pack comes out. Worst case if you don't like it you can get a refund. Can't go wrong either way.One the schedules, even though rw airlines change from time to time, I still would rather have one based on rw schedules so that you can at least have a good aproximation of the airlines that visit the hub you are at, rather than just a bunch of random airlines that may not even have flights to that airport.

The data is already available from Planepath and Navdata

Yes it is, but the main point is the AI SDK does not allow such control over AI planes.
