July 18, 200916 yr It's been a while since this plane has been on my hard drive. I downloaded the latest installer, and I'm amazed at the detail (for the second time). I first used this aircraft as the 154B version this team released years ago, and grabbed the M model as soon as it was released. For some reason I stopped using it, but decided to give it a go tonight. I can start the aircraft and have it ready for takeoff in a few minutes, but my understanding of the navigation and autopilot systems is non-existent outside of aligning the nav system. I'm planning on fixing that over the weekend away from class/work/the social life :( Anyway, what a fun airplane! These guys deserve a medal! ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
July 18, 200916 yr The TU-154m is one of my favourite aircraft on FS. A pleasure to use and something completely different. In my opinion the PT TU154m is the best freeware aircraft ever released. You'll be ok with the autopilot - it's not so tricky once you get used to it. Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

Now that the developers have added tool tips to almost every single switch, it's not such a big deal now.As for the best freeware, I think you may just be correct! These guys have what I would consider excellent payware on there hands; don't tell them that, though. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
July 18, 200916 yr I remember I had tried some version of it a few years ago. I can't remember..is there a VC with it, if so, how is it? - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |

You'll be ok with the Cyrillic - I bet you could learn to read it in about 30 mins if you tried, it's not so tough. I learnt to read it, so there's your proof :( Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
July 18, 200916 yr Gavin, I was sure you'd come to drop a line here. When this addon is mentioned we, PT Tu-154's fans, come flying like fruit flies to a lemon slice. And no way to extreminate us! :( There's no point in saying how great the addon is. Well, after years of hardcore 2D flying I was hooked on VC by CS757.I'm currently also enjoying LVLD and PMDG744 in the VC environment. So, having rediscovered my dust-covered TrackIR4, I do plan on coming back to my Tutka. And yes, this toy is NOT easy to startup, tame, navigate and get back to ground. But once you do it, satisfaction guaranted. I learnt to read itYup, can be done. Unless you're resistant to languages. But there's always http://translate.google.com/and, of course, some great English language mini-manuals on how to make all those lamps lit.Best regards as always

July 19, 200916 yr Just what I needed! :( I've been flying a lot in Russia a while ago, even learned the two navigation systems, RSBN and NAS1 and boy was it fun to navigate the Tu-134! Then, just like Zach, for some reason I stopped using it. I guess it's time for the Tu-154... :( Thanks for this topic, it sure gave me a kick I needed :( Regards,Jure
July 19, 200916 yr Then there, the icing on the cake.Animated crew (zoom in in SPOT view)Very realistic flexing wings (set up high winds and turbulence to see this effect). John

July 20, 200916 yr For a gentle introduction to Russian aircraft in FS2004, the little Yak-42 is hard to beat.Nothing like as complex as the Tu-154 but is full of character and, once mastered, this little tri-jet is a joy to fly.http://www.protu-154.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7660 John
July 20, 200916 yr I had a real soft spot for Russian aircraft and had pretty well all of 'em for FS9--both freeware and payware. The Tu-154M was my favourite, followed by the Tu-134 in the freeware department, and Suprunov Design's Yak-40 in the paywareI've been using FSX exclusively since the beginning of the year when I bought a computer powerful enough to handle FSX. The only thing I miss, actually, is the Russian aircraft I used to fly. All that said ... I still installed FS9. I haven't been using it, though I might re-install my Russian aircraft and start using FS9 again! Joel Murray @ CYVR (actually, somewhere about halfway between CYNJ and CZBB)
July 21, 200916 yr Author This is definitely a must have in any virtual hangar, at least if you fly heavies at all. This was actually one of the first realistically modeled and very complex aircraft I learned to work, the very first being the Level-D 767. I paid $40 for the Level-D (and still use it a lot) but paid zilch for this gem.Anyway, I'm glad to see others think the same of it. I wish these guys would add a VC to the '134. :( ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
