July 27, 200916 yr Commercial Member Hi Ryan,I appreciate it is still beta, and my comment was in no way a criticism, etc... Just want to help see a great looking add-on get even better before release. :)I haven't been this excited about a turboprop for a while! I'm stunned.Best regards,Robin.
July 28, 200916 yr I haven't really seen much talk about this, but what kind of FPS should we expect with the J41? It was supposed to perform better than the MD-11 but I have yet to see any comparisons or figures except 19 or 20 fps in one of these pictures (which isn't good enough for me to fly... luckily my MD-11 gets me about 30 FPS or so in the VC).Could one of the testers please offer a comparison to an existing plane? Pics would be great too ;) Tired of Streetlights everywhere? Try MSFS DarkStreets today!
July 28, 200916 yr William,We haven't talked about it much because they're still working on optimization, so there's no point in quoting numbers. A couple of the other testers have said elsewhere that they're getting framerates comparable to the MD11. I can tell you that the word everyone is using to describe the JS41 is "smooth". July 28, 200916 yr That screenshot with the frame rate of 19 was mine, and you should know that I was running the un-optimized "Beta 1" version of the J41 on a 6.5 year old Pentium 4 with 512mb of RAM.So I think you need not worry about it being unflyable on any computer newer than 7 years old.Nick
July 28, 200916 yr Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like it will perform somewhere between the 767 and Duke. Great news indeed! Tired of Streetlights everywhere? Try MSFS DarkStreets today!
July 28, 200916 yr ... 19 or 20 fps ...which isn't good enough for me to fly...What's not good enough about 20fps? Go to a cinema and it is only 25fps. Paul Smith.
July 28, 200916 yr What's not good enough about 20fps? Go to a cinema and it is only 25fps.as a matter of fact, it's 24fps
July 28, 200916 yr Yes, I certainly don't have a problem flying with a framerate of 20fps. It's when it drops to 10 that things start to get difficult (only applicable on my PC with VFR London X being displayed at maximum building density and texture resolution) :( Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
July 29, 200916 yr Commercial Member I have to say on my system the MD-11 VC tanks (~12 FPS), but 2D is very quick (~25 on the ground at Heathrow 2008),so I hope that it J41 is better than this. :)Best regards,Robin.
July 29, 200916 yr Commercial Member Someone please post a video or link on Youtube of this fine beauty in action. Thanks,BennyVideos will be coming shortly :( Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
July 29, 200916 yr What's not good enough about 20fps? Go to a cinema and it is only 25fps.Just my preference. I have my FPS locked at 36 at all times (It is the sweet spot on my machine with no stutters). Most of the time I get it but when flying complex planes like the MD-11 it almost always stays up above 25. Any lower than 25-30 and my track IR ceases being smooth. And as I've said in several other threads, I'd rather not fly than fly without TIR. Tired of Streetlights everywhere? Try MSFS DarkStreets today!
August 14, 200916 yr I haven't been this excited about a turboprop for a while! I'm stunned.Best regards,Robin.Same here. I bought Air Hauler a couple of weeks ago, and will be needing a move up from the Caravan soon. This will for sure be my upgrade. :(
