July 26, 200916 yr Can someone please tell us all about this aircraft? For example, service ceiling, range, passenger capacity, etc. Just wondering, as I am unfamiliar with this aircraft. Matthew Bellette

July 26, 200916 yr I would really appreciate the PMDG J41 documentation so I can start reading up on this bird. I know I can check smartcockpit.com, but I would like to read extensively the sim manual so I'm prepared to fly this when released. If they hold it until the plane is released, then I'll show my usual lack of discipline and just wing it, causing all kinds of trouble for myself. Any idea when we could expect the manual?Curt Curt Branch
July 26, 200916 yr Oh my...look at those flight deck shots :( :( Never saw that kind of detail on anything else....
July 26, 200916 yr Those shots are phenomenal, I have been looking for a decent regional turboprop to start to learn some more complex piloting/systems management for a while now, and after 25 years of simming, I think I have found a place to begin that.Cheers and thanks for the screenies, Core i7 3820 | Asus P9X79-DELUX SLI M/b | 32GB Corsair DDR3 1600Mhz RAM | DeepCool Gemmaxx CoolernVidia GTX580 1536MB GDDR3 Video | ASUS MW221u 21" WS LCD2 x Kingston V300 240gb SSD RAID for OS and FSX | 2 x Seagate Barracuda 1Tb SATA HD's in RAID | 1 x 1Tb ext b/up driveAntec P193 Case | Corsair 1000W PSU | MS Win 7 Professional 64 BitMy website and aviation photo gallery - www.christopherbporter.com
July 26, 200916 yr I'm in awe too. Look at the level of detail. Some of the screws holding the instruments in the panel have scratch marks where a techo's screwdriver has slipped. There are grubby smudges where pilots fingers have repeatedly rubbed over the surrounds near switches. (note to management - send a NOTAM that eating hamburgers is no longer permitted in the cockpit).
July 27, 200916 yr Commercial Member Uhmm.... someone get me a dictionary...Tiny niggle: please move the text into the phospherous area of the screen. Other than that, that has to be THE best emulation of a CRT I've seen ANYWHERE, especially considering I'm looking at this on a TFT monitor. I actually thought it could be photo mixed in with screenshots of the sim. I'm not saying that to sound melodramatic - I mean it.I agree - #3 could be passed off as a photo if the cropping was a bit tighter. I'm in awe.ROLL ON RELEASE DATE!Best regards,Robin.

July 27, 200916 yr Can you show a screenie of the J41 in Airlink liverie? :D Philip D. Schmidt Jensen - Denmark
July 27, 200916 yr Someone please post a video or link on Youtube of this fine beauty in action. Thanks,Benny
July 27, 200916 yr OK, who in the heck put the fingerprint smudges on the glass of some of the gauges? :( Honestly, that takes it to a whole new level, LOL.. :(For a moment I thought my monitor was dirty...........Nice work!!Wijnand (EHBK) Wijnand Lindelauf (EHBK)
July 27, 200916 yr PMDG has brought things to a whole new level, again. Some of those VC shots could easily be mistaken for photos - and in-fact they were. My fiancee thought they were pictures! Albeit she has little to no knowledge of aviation, but still :) I can't wait for this plane to roll out. I have gotten a little bored of the big metal and have been flying the RealAir Duke 60 for the last 5 months. Its been real nice flying outbound/inbound radials manually again, and I just can't wait to do so in this bird. I've been thinking of doing a round-the-world flight in the J41 once it comes out - just have to plan a good route.Blake Blake Williams
July 27, 200916 yr Its been real nice flying outbound/inbound radials manually again, and I just can't wait to do so in this bird. It's nice to have the option of doing it either way in the J41. It's not a terribly uncommon situation for the FMS to be deferred on aircraft with a single FMS like the J41 or CRJ. So in the case of the J41, you go from being /G to /I, and you're forced to morse identify every navaid, and worry about crossing radials, etc.I've never dispatched a large jet that has dual FMS with the system deferred. In fact, on the DC-10, everything we did was long-range overwater flights, and there was no MEL relief for an inoperative LRN system. They both had to be working to depart. So, in that regard, the J41 is a change from previous PMDG projects like the MD-11, 747, and 737, where initializing the FMS and using it correctly was mandatory for proper operation of the airplane. Now you can simply turn it off, and fly without it if you wish. Just make sure you don't file an RNAV arrival by mistake. ;)On the other hand, the GNS-XLS has fantastic advisory VNAV, and is capable of flying all the RNAV stuff, lateral offsets, holds, DME Arcs, and all the things the "big boys" do.So you can have it either way. It adds a nice diversity to the type of flying you can realistically simulate.Nick
July 27, 200916 yr These screenshots are really making the wait difficult. So far an outstanding job on the looks of the aircraft, and I am sure the systems will be a challenge to handle like my MD-11. Was doing some reading on smartcockpit to pass the time though, and came across a section about the different aural tones. Was curious as to what the "2-second calvary charge" for the AP disconnect is? Cause in my mind I am thinking like civil war bugal horn everytime the autopilot disconnects :( . Can't wait for this to hit the store, keep up the good work, and thanks for producing such nice airplanes.
