Featured Replies

Boyz Toyz announces the release of Low 'n Slow - New York State. This scenery add-on recreates the entire state of New York to a degree never before seen in Flight Sim X.What it does:

  • Dramatically improves land class assignments for the entire state - not including New York City and Long Island which are already well done in FSX.
  • Revamps hundreds of towns and cites both large and small to more accurately reflect their actual size, shape and position.
  • Fixes waterclass assignments for many lakes and rivers.
  • Fixes many of the poor blend masks included with FSX.
  • Includes a set of improved Autogen files.
  • Includes four comprehensive flight plans that will tour you around the breathtaking scenery found in upstate New York.
  • Designed to work seamlessly with most third party software for Flight Sim X.

Just downloaded the final version and am looking forward to using it. I am from the Lake Champlain area and you have certainly improved the landclass situation for the Adirondack state park as well as the "north country".Just another thought,........Jim Cook was involved in some discussions and efforts in your previous thread and I have downloaded all of his airport improvements. (Jim did an outstanding job with the Plattsburgh International Airport that was a follow on to PAFB.) I have flown gliders out of Elmira in the 70's-80's and was familiar with the Harris Hill glider-port. Just recently I tried MSFSX out of Elmira and found a poorly done Harris Hill. A very short field with little utility,......and then I ran across this today: http://luerkens.homepage.t-online.de/peter/That is a link to a "winch launch" program that will work with gliders. So your landclass, the winch launch program, and a little (maybe a lot of) help from Jim Cook could really improve the Elmira area.Maybe.............huh???????????Kingfish

COOL!! Downloading now. Can't wait to try it out.I'll give Harris Hill a look. Jim

Larry:Thanks so much. The last Beta version seems to work very well. Are there changes to this final version, or is this just the "final release"? Thanks again, this is a fantastic effort you've made.Gary

There are quite a few additions. I spent quite a bit of time adding many of the marsh/swamp areas to the Adirondack park...very time consuming because to do it right means lots of complex polygons.I added some mud to the Mohawk river. I added some pollution to Onondaga Lake which is one of the most polluted lakes in the country. I removed the mud from some of the lakes that were improperly classed...most notably Lake George which, like most Adirondack lakes, is crystal clear in real life.Plus I made a lot of other tweaks and tunes.I could easily spend another year adding details but I decided to lock it down and release it. Larry

Thank you very much Larry !Can't wait to test it out tonight and find out the changes ! :( Alain from Montreal

Larry,I've had an issue for awhile with the Mohawk River. The Mohawk would abruptly change from blue to green between Amsterdam and Schenectady. It was driving me nuts trying to figure out which add-on caused it. With your new waterclass, the problem is gone and the river is uniform in color again. THANK YOU for that. Low 'n Slow is great. Thanks a lot for all the hard work. I'm going to recommend it in all my readme files for NYS airports from now on.And the Charity-ware idea is a good one.Jim

Thanks alot for this I am looking forwards to seeing the state. As a non-New Yorker, I don't even know where to begin, do you have any suggested flights? Thanks again

Here's a flight I like. I start from my home airport, Fulton County airport in Johnstown, NY on Runway 10. After take-off turn to the north and fly over the Great Sacandaga Lake. Tune the VOR for Glans Falls airport KGFL and fly there. Then continue north over Lake George and Schroon Lake. Tune the VOR for Saranac Lake KSLK and you'll fly over the Adirondack Mountains and Lake Placid. When you reach Saranac Lake, turn to the East and tune the VOR for Burlington, VT. That will take you across Lake Champlain. At Burlington, turn south and tune the VOR for Glens Falls again. You can land there or continue south along the Hudson River to Albany KALB. Jim

First ThanksBatting%20Eyelashes.gifWhat is the current recommendation to remove the Fall desert like landclass textures?Images over 200K file size deleted
