August 16, 200916 yr You might not know this, but the Piper Cheyenne from Digital Aviation has some torque issues that can't be fixed. At least that's what they said when I asked them. The torque reaction speed is either very slow or very fast. Usually it's slow and it'll take around 5 seconds or more until you get a response from it, making it a little tricky to handle. Nothing major, but still annoying. They spent weeks trying to balance it out, but the end result is what I explained above. Apparently the MSFS turboprop engine model is to blame. So the question is, how did you, PMDG solve/handle this problem on the J41? Emil Bjornholt - Norway - ENGM ~ Ultimate guide to the best FSX Addons on the market ( 2014 ) ~ www.fsxgetstarted.com/

August 16, 200916 yr And how did Aeroworx solve this problem in their widely acclaimed King Air B200 simulation?EDIT: after some search they also did run into some MSFS limitations... Michael J.
August 16, 200916 yr And how did Aeroworx solve this problem in their widely acclaimed King Air B200 simulation?EDIT: after some search they also did run into some MSFS limitations...Yeah, MSFS is not very good for turboprop simulation. I would LOVE to be able to see engines running while the prop is running, but all you can do is use your imagination. Dan

August 16, 200916 yr In all my time performing ground run/taxi operations,And some right seat flight time in the B1900D,i never saw any torque lag in flight. The needle on the torque gage moves right along with power lever movment. On the ground, performing torque checks, there is a couple seconds of lag, because there is no air load on the propeller disc. Microsoft, or any other addon company has never modeled this correctly. August 17, 200916 yr Commercial Member The torque behaves realistically in the J41 - it's there on-demand instantly. We went to a ton of trouble coding outside of FS to do this... Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com

August 17, 200916 yr Sounds great - another issue i think FS has is that it starts turboprobs engines to quicker, whats the startup like please ?
August 17, 200916 yr Does anyone else get the problem with FSX turboprops where when you start them up they go to full throttle, the plane shoots down the apron before it finally spools down? I've had it for a long time and couldn't figure out a fix. I recently formatted and put Windows 7 on so hopefully the problem disappeared with the format (haven't checked yet). David V
August 17, 200916 yr David,That's the way that MSFS handles turbine engine start -- you'll notice that in all FS9 & FSX turbine aircraft that haven't had some outside-MSFS magic done by a developer. To avoid shooting across the apron, set your parking brakes. :( That said, engine startups in the J41 are much more realistic. The prop pitch is held at zero (effectively zero) by start latches that are locked in place during the shutdown process. This minimizes torque during startup, and also keeps thrust to its effective minimum. It's possible to sit still on the tarmac with the engines at ground idle and the brakes not set -- no creeping. (The fact that it can be done doesn't mean it's not a bad habit, however!)Incidentally, before taxi, the props have to be taken off the start latches by moving the power levers slightly aft of the ground idle position. If you forget, you'll find yourself on the runway with RPMs at 100% and unable to generate more than about 35% torque. @SWDT (name?): I haven't timed the start sequence, but the development team has put a great deal of time into making it right. If Rob Randazzo, who's type rated in the J41, is happy with it, then we all should be. :( Best Regards, Kurt "Yoda" Kalbfleisch Pinner, Middx, UK Beta tester for PMDG J41, NGX, and GFO, Flight1 Super King Air B200, Flight1 Cessna Citation Mustang, Flight1 Cessna 182, Flight1 Cessna 177B, Aeroworx B200
August 17, 200916 yr Good to hear that PMDG has acomplished this! I was talking about my real life, and sim experience with the PT-6. I have wrenched, and run the dash 20,34,36,65 and 67 models of the PT-6. does the TPE-331 use negative blade angle to counteract exaust thrust at ground idle?
