September 16, 200916 yr Jorik,With that kind of system, I would say it is probably the FSX settings you have saved. I have a much older system (core 2 duo E6850 @ 3.0, GeForce 8800 GT Superclocked, 2 gig DDR 2 Corsair, and Asus P6T Mobo) and I am getting about 28-30 FPS while on the ground and 40-50 FPS while in the air. The settings I changed that had the most impact on my frames were no light bloom, aircraft doesn't cast shadows on itself, no airport vehicles, no road vehicles, no boats, no general traffic and about 25% commercial traffic (I use Ultimate Traffic II). This is what I have to do with my system, but yours should be able to put out more. I would also suggest looking on the Flight1 forums and do a search for NickN's FSX set up guide. His guide took me from 10-15 FPS to a consistant 25-35 FPS on all aircraft. The only situation I have notcied lower FPS was flying over NYC during the initial climb below 10,000. I hope this helps.Chad

September 17, 200916 yr A very short hop from Florence to Venice.. ASX has the weather in Florence as rather wet this morning.. WOAI had Florence rather busy this morning
September 17, 200916 yr Danny, again very nice pictures. I had another question for you about WOAI. While your computer specs are better than mine, do you think WOAI is easier on frames than Ultimate Traffic II? I really have to turn down my traffic if I want to run the sim smoothly and at 30FPS or better.Chad

Though Obviously its possible WOAI may be easier on frames simply because there is less traffic in situ depending on which packages you have installed..
September 17, 200916 yr Danny, that is surely not default for LIRQ... which one is it? Looks interesting...Is it the FlorenceX from Aerosoft?Andrew Andrew Entwistle

September 18, 200916 yr Well... I think I'm addicted to this bird! Below - descent & NDB approach to YPMQ. How did you manage to get the weather radar working?RegardsJustin
September 18, 200916 yr How did you manage to get the weather radar working?RegardsJustinA lot of us have RXP's WX500 weather radar gauge, and it "drops" right into the J41 cockpit, thanks to PMDG accomodating this gauge's configuration in the J41 panel config. Wayne KlocknerUnited Virtual
September 19, 200916 yr Maybe this is no the right forum to post this but I'm wondering how to get good frames in this lovely bird.I see many screens with nice addon scenery and settings.I can't get my frames in VC higher then 15FPS. Normally I get more then 40/s.My System specs:Asus Rampage extreme 2Intel I7 920 overclock to 3.6Ghz with Mugen 2 cooler.4Gb DDR3 RAMMSI Nvidia GTX285 Super Pipe version.HD of 7500RPM.Would it do much of a help to FSX if I upgrade to 10000RPM HD and more GB RAM with 64bit OS?All my settings in FSX are medium.I hope somebody is willing to help me with this.Kind RegardsJorikJorikI have a very much older machine than youE6850 unclocked 3GHz CPUGigabyte P35 DS3P Mobo4Gb Crucial Ballistix DDR2 RAM 4-4-4-12nVidia 8800GTS 640Mb500Mb 7200 WD HDDFSX standard SP2FEX with 2048 HD cloudsGEXUTX USA, Europe60cm res10m meshVery Dense AutogenWater 2x HighWhilst not as silky smooth as one would like esp at airports (hey..) the experience with this bird is fair to good with max FPS 20-25 in the blue and 13-17 at airports. Also did all the tweaks suggested by the great NickN of GEX fame plus FPS limiter set to 28FPS and unlimited, TBM=80, Bufferpools at 205000000.This is as good as it's ever going to get on my piece of tin. Suprised you are getting problems with such a good machine though, I am sure someone can give you the links to these tweaks and you ought to be doin better than that. With the the JS41 that a real shame as it is amazing.Best of luck Ray

I have an i7 920 overclocked to 3.6 on an Asus P6T Deluxe motherboard, with a GTX285 and 6GB Ram on Vista Ultimate (64 bit), and in the VC I'm seeing a minimum of 25 fps on the ground at heavy airports and a minimum of 40 and upwards of 60-80 fps when airborn while using the J41. In spot view I've seen frame rates in excess of 400 fps in sparse areas.Even when the cpu is set to stock speeds (2.66 Ghz) I've never seen frames as low as 15fps unless I crank up MyTrafficX to 100% at KJFK.Try updating all motherboard/chipset drivers. Be sure your antivirus is NOT scanning your FSX folder and its subdirectories (this can be a huge hit with certain antivirus programs). You really need to take a look under the hood on your machine. Also I don't know what your settings are while using FSX, but a few things make a bit impact. Aircraft self shadowing and keeping the water effects slider maxed will suck the life out of FSX. Scenery Casts shadows and even aircraft casts shadow on runway can be a big hit as well, especially when using traffic. Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com

September 22, 200916 yr Danny,I just bought and installed REX 2.0. I was wondering what Theme you used in your screenshots or if you created your own customer theme. Could you please tell me what you used as I really enjoyed your setup from the pictures you posted. Many thanks.Chad
