October 9, 200916 yr Hi,Having invested in getting Australia 'sorted' is FSX, by getting the Orbx FTX AU regions and airports, I have now decided I want to focus on the CARIBBEAN in FSX.I currently have these add-on airports :-FlyTampa St MaartenFlyTampa St BartsFlyTampa SabaTropical Sim Providentiales (Turks & Caicos)Tropical Sim ArubaTropical Sim CuracaoFreeware Wallblake (Anguilla)I would love to hear your recommendations of other good quality, Caribbean airport add-ons for FSX ?Thanks,Davido Edward Barchetta.1/4 Spanish, 1/4 Italian, 1/4 English, 1/4 Irish, living in Northern Sweden!
October 9, 200916 yr The Fly Mex stuff isn't bad and you can get most of the airports in Mexico. I think only the South and Central packages are SP@ compatible. With South, you get Cancun and Cozumel.I would go for more Tropicalsim stuff. They have a 12 airport bundle at Simmarket. The only problem with the bundle is they package multiple airports in to one scenery folder. If you already have one of the airports from a different developer, you have to manually remove the duplicate from the package. It also includes Cancun and Montego Bay.Imaginesim also has a Nassau that is nice and easy on the frame ratesGood question BTW, I mainly fly in the US, Caribbean and Mexico. Most of my flights at to vacation destinations.I really, really wish a high quality developer would do a package for Cancun/Mayan Riviera. The Cancun strip and the Riviera are not well represented in FS. In real life, I love taking off from Cancun. On most flight, you do turn after take off that gives you a fantastic view of the strip/Hotel Zone. In addition, none of the Cancun airports are accurate right now. They have a new terminal and they will have a second runway soon. There was a add on for the Flymex scenery in FS9 but I haven't tried it for FSX yet. We then respond you with the links to download your separate installers, ok?No trouble at all on doing this for you.My best regards,Carlos Pereira.www.tropicalsim.com
October 9, 200916 yr Thanks Carlos. That is go to know. I have not bought the bundle but I will once I get my computer back up and running.Any interest in tackling that Cancun/Mayan Riviera project? :( I know you guys focus on the airports but the entire area needs a lot of work. It offers a lot of diversity for flying - GA, air taxi, domestic, international... 5 airports, Mayan ruins and a ton of hotels/resorts along the coast. October 9, 200916 yr Yes Caesar. I think it would be more likely for Aerosoft or Fly Tampa to tackle something like that. Cancun should have their second runway open is a couple years as well. If you haven't seen it, they are building it accross the road from the airport. there will be a taxiway overpass that goes over the access road. Another one I would like to see that is up Tropical Sim's alley would be Trinadad and Tobago. October 9, 200916 yr Are you interested in Central America scenery at all? Or by "Caribbean" I am assuming you want things from Jamaica and Provedencia on east to the Barbados? Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

Wow, that is nice. I was not familiar with the developer so i skipped over it at Simmarket. It is now on the list. Same with Costa Rica.I know Aerosoft has concentrated on the Mediterranean but I think there would be a lot of demand for Caribbean scenery. My wife and I go to Mexico a couple times a year and there are a ton of Europeans there - each year more than the other. I know that the Dominican Republic is also very popular with Europeans. Of course, with the short flight from the US, American simmers would be interested in Caribbean add ons well. In addition, the flights are relativly short from South America. My idea flight time is 4-5 hours.Again, my ideal flight is from DTW (or similar) to somewhere with Windex blue water and palm trees so I will always lobby for more Caribbean scenery. October 10, 200916 yr There is another scenery add-on that often doesn't get mentioned, but I have found it to be really valuable in the Caribbean, and that is the Scenery Tech North American Landclass. It is inexpensive -- $18. It covers North America all the way up to Alaska and down through the whole of the Caribbean. It plays nice with other scenery add-ons. The great strength of the Scenery Tech stuff is that it puts villages, farms, factories, churches, and other structures out in those places where other scenery packages don't go. It also improves the terrain, making it more realistic. I was flying Puerto Rico last night and I was really impressed with how it enhanced the outlying areas. I have their North America, Africa and Asia landclass packages, and I have really been delighted with the effect. Lose not thine airspeed, lest the ground rise up and smite thee.
