October 15, 200916 yr Commercial Member As the title suggest I would like to hear some opinions from users, I have used the 747 version and didn't like it much but that was because it was geared towards the pax model. I have spent quite a few hours reading posts and reviews but there are a few things that still put me of buying the product.1. All the MD11 keys are mapped to Hardware and keyboard commands on my setup, FS2crew backs up then overwrites the cfg2. At 80kts you have to push a button to tell the F/O to engage autothrust (Dont understand why when you can press Autoflight on the ground and the machine does it for you)3. After Rotation to get the F/O to engage autoflight you have to press a button to tell him do so (again what is the point in pushing a button that makes the F/O push a button, I may as well press autoflight myself?)It does look like a good program and there support is first rate, but it seems like there are parts that are too restricted, for example I was told there is no way to stop the F/O switching the landing lights etc.. what do you do when landing in CATIIIB at night and you want the landing lights off on final approach? ThanksRobert Prest Rob Prest
October 15, 200916 yr well, you should ask this Bryan as he is the developer of FS2Crew best regards, Alexander Barger
October 15, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member Bryan is a good guy, but the point of posting here is I want an unbiased opinion from customers. The points I have made are just things picked up from reading the documents, I would like to hear info good or bad from anyone flying the MD11 with FS2crew on a regular basis.CheersRob Rob Prest
October 15, 200916 yr Rob,I do not fly the MD11 without FS2Crew, simple as that. I had the MD11 in the hanger for just over a year and did not take it out at all. After I got FS2Crew it is the only bird I fly in FSX. Gets my vote every time. Justin Paull
October 15, 200916 yr FS crew is a good program, how ever it could do more in expanding the copilot's duty like setting flaps, but over all the MD-11 is a pretty low workload aircraft when everything is working so there isn't a lot to do in this aircraft. Good programs like this one are always being improved, I like the push back feature, that is pretty cool and the accent in different country's, nice touch.Michael pare Michael Pare Extreme Boeing 737NG fanatic

October 15, 200916 yr I don't think I can fly with out FS2Crew. It is very useful tool and is is your reliable FO during takeoff and landing. It gives me unrealistic feeling when I fly MD-11X,747X and LDS767X by my self with out FS2Crew. I also advise to utilize TOMCAT, if you like the involve detailed take off and landing calculations.Sanal Ahmet Sanal "Time you enjoyed wasting, was not wasted"

Anyone using it with a multi monitor setup? does FS2crew open and close panels or is it all done behind the scene?Cheers Rob Rob Prest
October 15, 200916 yr Rob,I use two monitors, 24" for the sim and another 19"wide for things like navigraph, topcat...well everything I need running at the same time. FS2Crew does open panels on the main display but they never get in the way, only up long enough to make the cahnge then they are away. I have set the two interface buttons to the CH yoke and it is true hands on flying on take off and landing Justin Paull

I don't know if you are familiar with the 747 and 767, but they also have the option to arm LNAV and VNAV modes on the ground. Still, many airlines elect to have their crews only activate those functions during the initial climb. There are many ways to skin a cat, and fly an airplane :)As for the landing lights, you can always switch them off on final.

October 17, 200916 yr Right, in fact, I bet there's no Number Two that would dare an uncommanded flap adjustment more than once. Dan Downs KCRP
