Designing must be tough these days

This, in itself, could be construed as a form of coercion. :(

I wish I were. It is hoped that my comment would cause some to give a little thought to what goes on these days.Consider an individual who repeatedly posts his low and often false opinion of a product or service. How many times must it be posted before it becomes no longer an "opinion" but an agenda to influence a purchase decision by others. The comment was made within the context of what is often called "peer pressure" where the most vocal seeks to coerce or influence others in a negative way.A brief look at the FS9 Airsimmer thread is probably the best example available at the moment. :(

Hell, looking at forums yesterday and today, it seems you can't avoid giving it some thought!

I completely agree. If you look at my posts in the Airsimmer topic in the FS9 forum, I thought I was being pretty fair. A few others...not so much.

I just think it was the wrong word to use...or at least, the wrong way to put it. The way it came across to me, and I'm sure I read it wrong now, was that you would rather the community didn't have a voice to speak negatively about a product. I now realize that it's just for those who would borderline slander the product. My mistake!

Nope, the issue from newcomers or old farts perspective is that the FS Community has lost its way if not its mind. :( Genteel communications have been replaced with loud and long "consumer advocacy" proponents who haven't a clue what real quality or indepth realism is really about. These same people rant day and night over what they think the FS world should be "for them" while providing absolutely no positive input themselves. We are, as observers and long time flightsim enthusiasts perplexed by what passes as "discussion" with no real depth these days.
think about it, when was the last time you (and yes that includes me!!) posted on a support forum just to say nothing else other than how fantastic/flawless/great that add-on you just purchased was??? :(
I do that rather often. At least as much as I criticize...The quality of projects these days is going through the roof. The companies that get it right deserve all the praise in the world. :(

Well lets put it this way.. given that these companies are charging for these products and claiming professional development, they need to be held accountable when they miss the mark. If you want a breath of fresh air get X-plane... nobody has any expectation and people release quality products all the time, for absolutely nothing! And praises are all around and every developer is helping every other developer make their products better. Heck I've noticed in this forum we can't even get the so called "pros" to help a hobbyist with their own projects.

That's just this forum then... :(There are numerous places where developers offer their help and expertise.

My remarks have nothing to do with so called "developer accountability".Flightsim development and use is not done in isolation. To my knowledge, freeware or commercial developers have never been held unaccountable to users. :( My reference is to the behaviour of users, the herd mentality, and the outright falsehoods perpetrated by a some.To undertand my meaning, imagine yourself as newcomer who only wants to be a part of a community of dedicated flight simmers. In that scenario, you would have the impression that this community consists of nothing more than a bunch of self centered, consumer advocacy groups who would rather stir a pot than actually enjoy their own hobby.FS enthusiast should be held "accountable" for their own behaviour just as much as developers are. :(

MSFS users were also use to all this "free stuff" years ago. And that's where X-Plane is now. Bascially, X-Plane is years behind..... in what we've come to expect for MSFS. This is why I "don't" enjoy X-Plane as much as MSFS.......... as much as I try. It's a fact, that the so called "Pros" for MSFS did indeed release a lot of "freebies" in days of past, just like many do for X-Plane now. So nothing is really any different. It's just that the majority of X-Plane models have not got to the point of taking many months or years to produce, let alone all the years of experience. I know this because I've been around since the beginning of desk top flight simulation. I've been through it all before. So no, X-Plane isn't a breath of fresh air. IMO, the majority of what's available is still "crude" in comparison to what we see for MSFS, and is still going to take a number of years to catch up. Somehow the development cycle of X-Plane is going to have to remain fixed for a period of time. Other wise, I doubt that many of the better known 3rd party programmers for MSFS will jump aboard. And that's what X-Plane needs.L.Adamson

"...in this forum"? No, you wouldn't see much of that in this forum, because that's not the purpose of this forum. If you look further down the list of available forums here however, you'll find forums dedicated to every aspect of FS design. There you will also find that most of the ones providing help are the very same payware and freeware individuals you're decrying as not being helpful... :( At AVSIM alone my "post count" stands at 6389. Would you care to guess where the vast majority of those posts have been made? This only speaks of AVSIM. I moderate and host a "Panel and Gauge Design" forum at another major FS website. I also invest 4+ hours daily visiting and participating in ~30 other forums, as well as doing individual pro bono tutoring via MSN and email.I'm hardly unique in this, as I could name (but won't) forty or more "pros" (freeware and payware) who do the same thing everyday. We share with one another, as that is how we all learn. Quite honestly I learn as much from the "students" as I do from my fellow "pros." Quite often it is the challenging questions from a "newbie" that forces me to invest time researching an answer, and in the process I learn something new myself! :(

Do you own it? If not... you have no reason to care. Seriously. Except... you like to give Eaglesoft trouble whenever you can.
Whether I own it or not is irrelevant. Where have I previously given Eaglesoft trouble?

If you are not a customer, you are not in a position to complain about what you never purchased. You can't cry foul over something you didn't even purchase. Makes no sense... no matter what the developer. As for the second part of your post... you already know that answer. If you're honest.

I'm not complaining about anything - merely pointing out the facts as they've been given. Facts you don't attempt to deny.Either state where I've attacked Eaglesoft or get off the pot.
