January 20, 201016 yr Can AS6.5 be used with FSX ???GolliYes. Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
January 20, 201016 yr And using any HiFi weather product, 10SM is depicted correctly. Now, if an individual user wants to further modify the "look" of this, there are options in all our products to reduce the maximum visibility to add some distant haze.Thank you - this looks very good! Is there a possibility in AS 6.5 to limit surface visibility to say 30 SM max all the time? I know it is there in ASA but how would you go about achieving that in As 6.5?Thank you to all who responded,Alex

January 20, 201016 yr HelloHere are the options available in 6.5Wow, thanks. So the answer to my question is 'No' I presume. If I set vis to l
January 21, 201016 yr Hi,Yes you can limit the surface vis to 30, but you are right, the vis at altitude would also be limited to 30. I guess if you had a paid version of FSU?IPC you could limit vis layers through that.
January 21, 201016 yr Thanks Neil!I am watching this thread, but will not be participating in it!!Welcome back! Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
January 21, 201016 yr Only because there was a specific question asked!! And some mis-information posted.
January 22, 201016 yr I have both, but I switched back to AS6.5 some time ago because of the high cumulus cloud (which is only annoying) and the incorrect temps at altitude (which knocked my advanced airliners out of the sky). There was also constant panel-flickering, which irritated me as well. I was updating constantly with no success, so I switched back until the software had matured a bit.Does anyone know where it is now, concerning updates with these issues? (As they pertain to PMDG, Level D, etc?) Thanks,- daniel
January 22, 201016 yr ASA blows 6.5 out of the water when it comes to temp, wind, cloud type, turbulence, thermals, and precipitation. Where it falls short is in the visibility department. For example, I was flying into KMDW a couple of weeks ago. Visibility was 1/4sm in heavy snow and overcast @800ft. On final approach, I was met with Scattered cumulus, unlimited visibility, and heavy snow. It was only when I was taxiing to the gate did the visibility and overcast layer kick in.I also get the fun cumulus layer at 320, and I think this has something to do with ASA trying to generate turbulence at altitude, but being unable to "understand" clear air turbulence. Just speculation, but logical... I get the screen flickers as well, but have also minimized that by setting the refresh time to 25min. And considering that METARS only update once an hour, this isn't such a big deal to me.ASA and REX is by far the best 2 things that one could to to fs9."> Matt L.

January 24, 201016 yr Ive been reading this thread with interest. Im looking to buy a weather generator for FS2004. Which is the best, ASA, or AS6.5 for FS9.Whenever I use the clouds in fs9 my frame rates are hit hard, so i dont tend to use them ( fly in clear weather)I have a pentium 4 3hz with 2 gig of memory steve

Why:ASA has better depiction of weather, at least seems to me like it.AS6.5 is being mostly used for testing - when I want to do some short flight, since it needs very short time to boot up, and ASA takes very long on my laptop, even on my simming PC.

A lot of people incl. me use PAblo Diaz's clouds as they can be adapted to the speed of your system according to resolution. One can claw back quite a lot of frames by turning off all the shadow settings!
