VC Rain

Featured Replies

Hello, When I am in my virtual cockpit view, the rain is not hitting the windshield. When I am flying, the rain/snow just passes by without hitting the windshield. I installed the VC Rain fix from Flight1 and when it was raining and you were flying, you couldn't even see the rain or anything. What do I need to do so I can have rain hit the windshield?

it has to be programmed into the model, the vc rain fix only fixed the inability to actually see out of the windshields. apparently ms removed that effect at the last minute from its airplanes and only recently were people able to find ways to enable it

I

..very interesting, I got the Cessna 182RG (Freeware) & I got those Rain-Drops on my windshield, which I find very cool and realistic as well, I'm checking on my other Aircrafts, and it's not there, not even on the Payware, putting all the efforts, paying attention to small detail and missing such an obvious thing like Rain Drops. it is odd .... :( Fly High&Stay Dry ..at list we do not have to worry about Windshield wiper replacements

The VC rain drops work in the PMDG J41 cockpit as well. :(

Can you post a link to the Free Cessna 182RG?I wish someone would come up with a way to add this feature to other airplanes.Where are the creative people? LOLPlease!

FS9 "port over" aircraft that {a} have VC Rain enabled in their model file, and {b} you have installed the missing VCRain texture files in the FSX\Texture folder will have "VC Rain" on the windows, because FSX enables "backwards compatibility..."FSX native aircraft can not have VC Rain on their windows since that feature was cut from FSX model SDK...However, as Mike demonstrates with the L39, it is perfectly possible to invent a new method to achieve similar results.Since this technique Mike "invented" is proprietary, don't expect to see it on other payware or freeware aircraft anytime soon.I just wanted to emphasize that by design - FSX native aircraft models can NOT have raindrops on their windows, so they are NOT "missing such an obvious thing like Rain Drops!"

HelloPMDG J41 also has this effect, so it cant be that proprietary unless Mike has let them into the secret.

It is not the same effect. The L-39 has advanced features like the speed of the water drops running over the canopy dependent on airspeed. I doubt anyone has been "let into the secret".

HelloWell I guess thats me put straight. The OP was asking about VC raindrops PMDG has them. For the really pedantic amongst us, I don't know if PMDG's are speed dependant

Many ways to skin that cat I guess. As far as I know, no speeding drops on the PMDG.

Wonderfully done in the J41. Really like this feature, and I don't know why more Devs don't implement it. I am a huge fan of weather, love the ASA, love the IFR so having this feature really truly brings up the immersion level. Perhaps a good add-on for a dev would to be a 'aircraft weather enhancer' whereby icing effects could be added, rain effects, and wheel slipping or something similar. I would love that.
