December 17, 200916 yr Moderator Wonderfully done in the J41. Really like this feature, and I don't know why more Devs don't implement it. I am a huge fan of weather, love the ASA, love the IFR so having this feature really truly brings up the immersion level. Perhaps a good add-on for a dev would to be a 'aircraft weather enhancer' whereby icing effects could be added, rain effects, and wheel slipping or something similar. I would love that.Since all of those features must be built into the model, there's zero chance any addon could accomplish such goals. Fr. December 17, 200916 yr I guess not. It would have to be something added manually like perhaps Shockwave lights? I'm not a dev so just thinking of things that really would make a better sim experience. -Scotty
November 16, 201015 yr I tried out the Cessna 182 you suggested above, installed F1 Virtual Cockpit Rain FIX, but in the Virtual Cockpit I can't see any raindrops? I use FSX Gold Edition with Acceleration Pack.I can't understand so if the raindrop-effect is related to specific model-addon? for example the coming out PMDG 737NGX will have it? November 16, 201015 yr Manfred Jahn once placed a readme regarding VC rain effects for his Lockheed Connies in FSX, including the L-169A Starliner model, which required a specific file from FS.com for rain effect fixes. It has been a while since I last flew Manfred's Connie though, and the zip files as well as the readmes have been deleted, and I can't remember where to look within that site. Dave. November 16, 201015 yr I love rain in the VC, it is probably the one thing I miss the most about FS9, I saw a video on youtube of a guy landing the new ifly 737 in the rain and man thats almost enough to get me back into fs9. I hope the new NGX will have this, I have asked them several times with no reply, I also hope LevelD has this in mind with the 757. I love it in the JS4100 and another aircraft that has it is the RealAir Duke, I have not seen the rain in the Lotus but man if its anything like there light's Im sure its amazing.
November 17, 201015 yr Specifically, the Lotus Simulations L-39Cheers,Noel.I never get tired of looking at their videos. The VC of their plane is simply amazing. Derek RogersPC Specs: Intel i7-4790K 4.6GHz : 16GB RAM : GTX 970 4GB
November 17, 201015 yr One can't praise the "old" LotusSim L-39 Albatros often enough. Very good optics, innovative details like the VC rain and the volumetric lights, very good framerates, multicrew out of the box, great sound, good FDE and tons more at a reasonable price point. This combination makes it very unique on the market and much bigger names struggle on doing such a good package nowadays while this one is there for you since years.
November 17, 201015 yr So if it has to be added to the model, how can i go about adding it?Is it a case of copying some code from another aircraft, or are there things like image files and the like that also need adding? Are there any mods within AVSIM's archive that can achieve this?Tom Tom Why not read some useful tips and tricks - http://forum.avsim.n...22#entry1965722

November 17, 201015 yr Hello TomYou cannot add the VC raindrops, only the Developer can do that and so far only a few have tried.I hope this is one thing we get a proper fix for in Flight.Eons ago Flight Unlimited was simulating precipitation on the windscreen rather well, and looking back on it still seems great. Even in general the rain & snow was certainly much better than FSXs rather poor simulation, hope it gets attention.
November 17, 201015 yr Commercial Member It is not the same effect. The L-39 has advanced features like the speed of the water drops running over the canopy dependent on airspeed. I doubt anyone has been "let into the secret".It is the same fundamental process and method using hidden geometry on the model - the L39 just has more coding in the control gauge that changes the effect based on the speed and whatnot. The reason we didn't do it is that we're apparently already running up against the global model complexity limits with the J41 and each different effect you do requires additional hidden geometry - the VC has a hugely higher number of polygons vs. the L39 cockpit. A subset of our users have seen graphical distortions extending out the windshield from this on the J41 that are not part of the model - we may take the effects out in SP2 because of this. November 18, 201015 yr Ryan, would it be possible to make an entire piece of windshield as a gauge polygon, then create a gauge file with a custom rain animation on it, then attach it to a simulation variablelike 'ambient precip state' or similar?
November 18, 201015 yr The following airplane also have raindrops...Awesome plane (one of the best GA planes ever).Anthony tecnam Sierahttp://www.antsairplanes.com/sierralsa.htmland some others as well..!!So it is not propriety..!! It is added into the model..!Features:SCREENSHOTS• Native FSX model with bump and specular maps • Highly detailed Virtual Cockpit with full animations and mouse control (you can even open and close the air vents) • Virtual Cockpit rain effects (with exterior rain effects on canopy) • Silky smooth 3D gauges • Custom radios package (note: uses default 295 GPS) • 10 Liveries included. 2 Australian, 2 New Zealand and 1 UK plus 5 that allow the user to set the registration number • Animation Manager controls display of pilot, passenger, joystick, wheel covers, tiedowns, pitot covers. You can even control whether the pilot or passenger wears sunglasses. • Special model that provides compatibility with the Reality XP 530 or 430 GPS (RXP GPS not included) as well as allowing additional avionics to be installed • Full lighting including Instrument, Strobe, Nav and Landing lights • Tested by genuine Sierra pilots • Pilot's Handbook and Quick Start guide included • Please note that there is no 2D panel with this aircraft • High quality realistic sounds
