Curses to all those who interrupt my landings!

Featured Replies

Without out fail, as soon as I am in the approach and landing phase of a flight I am interrupted. It's either the freakin phone, someone at the door, or my wife asking for something. Speaking of the wife... No offense to women, but its like there is some kind of secret signal they get that has them interrupt you at the moment you are caught up in something. Like sitting down to watch a game, or playing a video game, or flight simming. Is it just me??Phew, okay I vented and feel much better :)

Sorry guys, but I've got a different take here. FS-9 & FSX are toys!! If my dear wife (and I've been married 25 yrs) wants a kiss or a little help or even a little...well you know... then I hit the pause button and take care of what she needs forthwith. Now there's the little matter of my flight sim particular friend who, from a distance of 125nm can sense when I'm on short final and calls on the LL. He doesn't get the same response (which is probably a good thing in certain cases). :( :( :(

Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.

It's the middle marker beacon. Wives have antenae that can pick it up you know.IAN

And you can

"I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there

than be up there wishing I was down here"

This happens to me a lot as well. It even happens just prior to take-off so that gets put on hold as well. I don't like the idea of pausing the sim and some add ons don't like the pause feature. It's always a judgment call with the phone. The door I never answer unless I'm expecting someone. In-house interuptions are the worst though.Very aggravating.

My wife hated computer games and did not understand why im into flight simulator. She always interupted me while flying, always at the worst time. Then a few years ago, I bought her "The Sims 2" and a laptop. Now she is hooked on that stupid game and leaves me alone. Once in a while Ill interupt her as she is getting her sims to go to the bathroom or take a shower or whatever it is they do. She knows how it feels to be disturbed in the middle of a good game and leaves me alone while Im flying now. Come to think of it, we live a kind of vitual life. Im on my computer flying and shes tending to her Sims. I guess we need to get out more.Rob

Comanche,How? (Sorry, couldn't resist.) But I'm 'part' ('Tex-Mex-Plus'-hehe). Where was I. Oh, you're into making 'videos' (I noticed). Why not 'spice up' your life up with .... (wink wink-hint hint). But, of course, the video would (maybe) wind up on YouTube (a mystery how, but it happens) so maybe not a good idea after all. I take it back: 'scrthrtpegnlg8%o*#thlllsrkr'. And yeah, be careful when you answer the door...could be some terrorist or drug crazed invader (hehe).Chuck BNapamule

If anybody thinks this is a good idea, think again. Been there, tried that. Whatever happened to those delicious home-cooked meals served on time?

My wife generally leaves me alone. If I am in the basement, she gets the opportunity to watch all of the Dr. Phil episodes that she has on the DVR. We also have a rule. When she needs me she will flash the basement lights as I fly with headphones. Before the rule, I was flying and I looked over and she was sitting in the dark waiting for me. It completely freaked me out.My dog is the one that interrupts me. He will just stand right next to my chair and stare at me for 10 minutes or he'll start licking my TQ if he is hungry.Anyone know how to get greyhound drool out of a TQ?

Guys,Let's face it....our wives seem to have some sort of sadistic 6th sense when it comes to this stuff. It's like when they send us to the supermarket. You drive 10 minutes to the store, spend 15 minutes going up and down the aisles, spend another 5 minutes in line, pay for everything, and then, 30 SECONDS AFTER YOU'VE PAID, they call you..... "honey.....I forgot that we also need......." :(

My wife and daughter get a hoot out of surprising me; they wait until I'm in full concentration mode on final or something and then lay something in front of me from out of peripheral vision (I fly in headphones too, and I have a 24" monitor I'm scanning). This sometimes causes me to jump a little which gives them great joy. I think they peek in behind me, see where I am, and wait until final to do this. What they put down is usually a snack so I should be grateful, eh?Merry Christmas All!
