Unofficial PMDG 777 Topic

Sorry to burst your bubble, but this is an old topic. All the information here is outdated. The shared cockpit is a no-go for PMDG products because they are too complex for FSX to handle it.
Are you on the PMDG development team? Was it stated that shared cockpit is definitely a no-go? Maybe I missed it...

Total Buzzkill... The 737 Will be great never the less.

I'm really like the idea of a decent 777 for FSX. A few months ago I brought the Wilco 777 and was very disappointed with it and there are no other close to life simulated 777 products out on the market for MSFS. The 777 is an incredible aircraft and it always amazes how far this bird can fly in one hop not to mention the size of those engines! This will definately be another addition to my hanger when PMDG release it down the track for SE Asia - Western Europe flights.

When was that ever stated by PMDG, last update we had only a few months ago was that it was still been looked into but it should be in the product, at least as an update later on.

Yes I think Ryan mentioned that the shared cockpit is possible not so long ago. Probably a month ago at the most.

Yep your correct there Cameron, just read Ryan's post regarding potential possibilities of a shared cockpit on page 2 of this thread.

I heard that it would be almost impossible, and IF they tried to impliment it, it would be the last thing they did, anyway, this is a 777 thread, not a shared cockpit threaD

Hey Guys,I'm excited about the B777 too!I'm starting to wonder (just a bit, nobody get bent out of shape!) if the timescale for the 777 is starting to slip due to the 737 not being released just yet. From what the PMDG guys have said about their production process for airplanes now, the 2 aren't necessarily linked cause they will be able to do stuff much faster.I hope RSR can give us an update on the 777 after the 737 is releasedKirk Mayers

UAL actually does have Domestic flights using 744s and 777s. I've been on a 744 from ORD-DEN and 777s on that route and SFO-DEN.
That flight starts at SFO-DEN, DEN-ORD, and then to EDDF. I have taken that flight twice in my military career.

I would think given the limitations posed within FSX, the PMDG team are doing an amazing job pushing the as close to reality envelope. When they release the 777 later on down the track I'm sure it will be like all of their other products - brilliant and the ultimate best ever on the market with or without a shared cockpit

What if you linked to an entirely separate computer and you could have the same without interfering with their product. As some people build their own cockpits they use maybe 5 or more computers.Daniel

Well its all the same system. It operates as one unit, even though it may have 4 or 8 cores and 3 monitors. Shared cockpit is difficult because it is two different systems interfacing with one another, and most of the data streams are created outside of FSX. So before someone figures out how to transfer all that external data, shared cockpit is not possible.

A Former ACES employee, a lady who went by the handle "engauged," demonstrated how shared-cockpit variables were/are possible in custom gauges. Others have implemented the feature as well. So, I'm not so sure it would be too complex to do, but there may be so many gauges that the performance hit would be too great. It is hard to say. If Ryan was, only a month ago, talking about uncertainty regarding a feature, then the team hasn't frozen features. If features aren't frozen, then we are not on the cusp of the Beta phase - at least not from a traditional notion.

Traditionally, in the normal sense of Beta, I think PMDG is there. They are debugging the plane but it is flyable. In the PMDG sense, no. They are still in late Alpha. PMDG's beta begins after debugging where the beta tesers begin to fly it, and hopefully no bugs will appear.

Hi,that's a question for all the real world 777 pilotes out there:What would happen if I would set an ATC Altitude Request but then select another menu (say e.g. the Company menu) without sending the alitude request? Will the request remain active and when I return to the Altitude Request page it would remember all my entries or will the request be deleted? I know it remains active when I hit the return button and then e.g. select a speed request...it will then be appended to the prior request. Thanks a lotFreddy
