PMDG BAe JS4100

Featured Replies

There is nothing to be concerned about. Typical PMDG, first rate all the way. There is also a configuration utility included that can be used to make it more framerate friendly for those running much older systems.

OK thanks for the info. I never owned a PMDG but may have to bite the bullet. On the other hand, there is that Duke that everyone is raving about. Decisions, decisions.jja

I purchased it recently. I'm very happy with it. It's a pleasure to fly by hand. I wish it had a cold and dark setting like other PMDG planes. Other then that, it's nice. Don't forget those stop locks though! :(

Both are first rate products and both are very different from each other. The JS4100 has a much steeper learning curve and is quite complex when compared to the Duke.

I brought the pmdg md11 it didn't work at first. But their level of support is excellent and they got me up and running in a couple of days. Basically my pc didn't have some of the latest windows updates so it was my own problem not their software.Tom

Thanks for the link. I don't know how I missed that one.jja
jja,As a heads up, if you run it with the default settings (which are all max) your system may struggle depending on what you've got. I recommend turning gauge quality to "normal" (I can really see no difference) and setting the FO display refresh back from 100%. Once tweaked a little bit, I find the performance to be very good.Hope this helps.

Probably the best add-on ever. A little complex to get started but very smooth flying and complex systems. Love the Duke as well, but it is a slower GA aircraft. I have both and love them. Be aware - neither has a 2D panel. I have always been a 2D flier and these planes made me change my mind. The level of detail of the gauges is amazing. Check the PMDG forums and there is a cfg edit that allows you to assign hotkeys to different 3D views. Honestly, it is EXACTLY like flying a 2D panel... only better, as you can zoom in and out. I applied that knowledge (there is a bit of learning curve but am glad I know it now) to other planes and now fly exclusively VC using pre-sets that make it just like the 2D panel. Anyway, I am glad PMDG forced me to accept the VC only, as I love it now. Anyway, you can't go wrong with either plane. The VC in each takes 3D cockpits to a new level. Eddie

What's a 2D panel! Just kidding but I haven't used them since FS9. :( Thanks for the info.jja

Well it's alot better than the old days when all we had was 1D panels.

I did the deed and bought the J41. I'm sure that I'll be happy with it based on everyones feedback. Time to dive into some of the great documentation so the frustration level is kept at a minimum when I first fly this bird. (KMSO-PAJN)jja

+1 for the JS4100.I love it. Get to feel like a commecial pilot, but with that GA feel.Get to fly into smaller airports I could not with the LEVEL D 763 or PMDG 744.The VC great, almost like sitting in a real aircraft. And it is not that expensive (for a PMDG plane).
