January 27, 201016 yr I have been getting a bit frustrated with the default FSX ATC of late so I was wondering what other simmers tend to like when flying offline. I tend to fly executive jets most of the time, but FSX IFR is so awful I tend to avoid it and rather fly without.....Any comments appreciated !!..G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron

January 27, 201016 yr I prefer default ATC. I tried Radar Contact, and my one major gripe about it is the ATC communication with AI traffic. For one, there seemed to be a major lack of airline callsigns in the RC vocabulary. Also, the communication between AI aircraft and ATC seemed to be a lot less frequent when using RC. As I have a lot of AI installed, I like to hear them all making contact with ATC when I'm up in the air in FSX. I spend a lot of time adding AI to my sim, and I just couldn't do without that in FSX. If Radar Contact addressed those two issues, then I'd opt for RC hands down, but not until then. Yes, the ATC communication is generally more realistic in RC, but if you only hear AI aircraft making contact with ATC once in every blue moon then that just spoils it IMO. January 27, 201016 yr Commercial Member Well, I prefer default ATC. Not because I particularly care for it however...Radar Contact doesn't do GA, which is a big no no for me. VoxATC is way to rigid, and often if you try to speak naturally and from memory, it will kick it back as you really need to read the window. Not really tried anything else. - Cody Bergland (Owner, Jaggyroad Films) Our YouTube Channel (featuring over 100 OFFICIAL product videos): https://www.youtube.com/user/valkyrie321 <- CLICK HERE

I fly GA mostly, but am getting into commercial jets; does PFE work with GA, and no requirement for a microphone? I don't mind some reality, but talking into a mike is just too much for me, I'll just get confused verbalizing responses back to ATC.

Doesn't require a mic, but more to the point, you can request a different runway whatever the weather. So your St Maarten issue would be easily resolved. Of course, you might end up landing with an 80kt tailwind, but to be honest, most of the time dflt ATC will choose a direction whatever the wind speed, and it's nuts that you can't swap over when the prevailing winds are +/- 2 kts. RC works nicely, although isn't without its drawbacks. RC5 please, the sooner the better. Paul Skol
January 27, 201016 yr I use default ATC but I really don't fly IFR with it. I fly IFR on my own (I can vector myself thank you lol), otherwise I fly IFR on VATSIM.So offline = default or noneOnline = vatsim | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

It also supports the ability to close a certain end of a runway within PFE so you NEVER get routed to that end of a runway for landing, takeoff or both...-Paul Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

Maybe it has something to do with fsuipc settings (like the TCAS range?). Anyhow, I have been very happy with RC and really have had almost no problems with it.
January 27, 201016 yr Commercial Member Offline I use PFE. When I'm tired and just want to hop in and take off without thinking too much I'll use the default ATC. I have RC but PFE is alot less of a hassle to save and resume flights. Plus the quick key reference program is nice too.Online is VATSIM. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager
