January 27, 201016 yr After seeing all the above, I'm leaning towards PFE, just want to know if it works without a mike, thanks.Yes sir, can be done with simple keyboard commands or you can fly with a virtual co-pilot who handles comms for you...-Paul Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
January 28, 201016 yr I don't seem to have that problem in RC (at least I don't think so), as my AI aircraft are constantly talking to ATC. Maybe it has something to do with fsuipc settings (like the TCAS range?). Anyhow, I have been very happy with RC and really have had almost no problems with it.What seems to be missing, is the intermediate altitude instructions for AI aircraft, I do get them for my user aircraft though. January 28, 201016 yr Yes sir, can be done with simple keyboard commands or you can fly with a virtual co-pilot who handles comms for you...-PaulPaul,What about voice commands for 'pilot-flying' in PFE? This is one of the only programs I have not tried. I like VOXATC except that it does not always pick up my words and there voices are too limited. I have had too many flights ruined by default ATC.Keith Keith Guillory
January 28, 201016 yr I voted for VOX ATC, it's best by very far (after online) to me, since you really need to talk to it. SuperATC/RC4 combo is still basically pressing the keys with voice commands, not really too exciting.Cheers,Dirk.
January 28, 201016 yr Another vote for VoxATC here. I love the fact you have to talk to back to ATC, even if it is still reading responses off the screen, plus when ATC speaks to AI aircraft it reads their correct airline callsigns (even those not included in FSX by default), due to VOX using TTS (text-to-speech). Would never go back to the default ATC now. January 28, 201016 yr I voted for VoxATC. As a retired Airline Pilot I have tried the default ATC and Radar Contact with SuperATC and found them totally unsuitable for the serious simmer who uses FS to practice his flying and radio skills before progressing to his/her PPL. I appreciate that a lot of work has obviously been put into their development and they are fine for those that just want to add a little something to their sim experience. However, for those who want to practice their Circuits, VFR flying or IFR Procedures, I have found that VoxATC is is excellent. It sticks strictly to the FAA and CAA R/T phraseology and procedures, which is what the budding pilot needs. With the taxyway green centerline guidance lights, it guides you from your Parking Gate to the Holding Point, where you are held by a Red Light bar until you get Line Up clearance; just as found at most major airports that have a Ground Control Freq. All of the other features, like ATC Clearances and the correction of a mistake in a Clearance readback, are an accurate representation of real life flying! I say a big thank you to all the enthusiasts who have obviously spent many hours working on addon software and hardware for this wonderful piece of technology. As an airline training captain, for more years than I care to remember, I have seen the great benefits that FS has brought to trainee pilots; that is why I spent the last number of years since I retired, building my own sim from bits and pieces and the many addons now available. VoxATC is The final bit in the jigsaw!!Tom.
January 29, 201016 yr I got a kick out of VOXATC when the controller was referring to UPS literally as Ups as opposed to Downs or correctly sounded out U- P- S. But other than that, I would say a good headset will help VOXATC hear you well enough without too many requests to repeat. Can you add additional voices to VOXATC?Thanks! Keith Guillory
January 29, 201016 yr Interesting results from the poll so far. So someone says Radar Contact doesn't do general aviation... What exactly does that mean? I'm a huge GA flyer and tend to stay away from larger airports. I want something better than default that allows me to fly in the pattern and make short approaches, or get "the option," rather than the touch n go clearance from default.edit: I watched the video from vox atc but wonder if there is one from the US. There are a lot of differences between US and UK, and I fly mainly in the US, so I'd like something that caters to the USA. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
January 29, 201016 yr Interesting results from the poll so far. So someone says Radar Contact doesn't do general aviation... What exactly does that mean?I think the person above meant "doesn't do VFR". I never heard about RC not doing general aviation - that would actually make little sense. I am not RC user but based on numerous posts from the RC forum it was clear that GA was handled just fine. Michael J.

January 29, 201016 yr Author Interesting to see that RC seems to be the most popular choice by far. With v5 adding in support for VFR it is very tempting, is there any ETA on when it is going to be available ??G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron
