Got ASA, Go Get ASE for free...

Featured Replies

I have ASX, which I bought in 2007 for a previous gaming rig build. I have not installed it on my new rig. Is ASE enough of an improvement to justify purchasing it instead?krswen

Sorry but that GUI is ugly. Not that it matters that much, but to say they've improved that aspect is a bit silly.
Agreed, I liked the blue MUCH better, they should offer configurable skins LOL-Paul

That one I have to defer to someone else, I went from ASV6.5 to ASA to ASE...-P

As a Beta tester for ASE I can say that HiFi listens to all suggestions. Personally, I like the red but I will add skins to the wish list. You never know - more good things might be down the road.Vic

Correct,My process goes like this as I have not played around with Snapshots in ASA/ASE...Launch ASE and allow it to loadLaunch FSBuildCreate Flight Plan in FSBuildImport Flight Plan into ASE and allow it to processDo not install Snapshot but CancelInstall GE Pro texturesLaunch REXGo to I want to fly a flight planUse real world wxImport FSBuild Flight PlanFill in all fields (aircraft/alternate/airspeed/altitude)Tell Rex to processThen click Install Wx textures from REXOnce done close REXBada Bing Bada Boom you got ASE (ASA), GEPro and REX all playing together like one big happy family :( :( Paul
psolk, great short tutorial there. The only question is GEPro textures: do you run GEPro each time or you just listed the 1st installation instance? And doesn't GEPro get overwritten by REX textures? Or did you find something specific in this combination of GEPro and REX?Thanks,Dirk.

Hey Dirk, Thanks, glad it helped.I do run GEPro every time I fly to load the GE weather specific textures. As for REX overwriting GEPro, I only use the wave animations, cloud textures and then the runway textures and runway lights, I uncheck everything else in REX that would overwrite GEPro...Hope that helps!-Paul

System overload, System overload, too much information, can't compute. Wow! I just got home from work hoping my PNW download made it, which it did. Now I find out that ASE and GEX has been released. :( :( :( It is going to be a great weekend. Thanks for the info. That is what makes AVSIM such a great place.

I'm also confused now. I thought he meant FS9. Since GEPro/ASv6 I've always preferred weather influenced textures. Thanks,Dirk.

Hi All,I will thank most of you for your kind words and support! To McCrash I will remind you that Paul is in no way associated with HiFi or our beta team; he is however a long time user and supporter of HiFi. So what he started to post here and at the FS9 Forum is no different than our press release that AVSIM posted on their front page.To my friend Chapstick I will say that maybe the color of the GUI doesn't make a difference to many, and seeing that we have been using a blue theme since AS 2004 maybe we thought it was time for a change. As Vic stated, the suggestion for more skins has been submitted and both Damian and I have read this.

The red looks cool.

"Even Ozzy's wagging his tail again. Liam who?"

The red looks cool.
But is actually hot. The blue is cool. Hence the colors on taps in the kitchen :( Graham

I do David... I really really apologize, as many know, I am still an avid FS9'er but wanted to try and help out here as well. I should have remembered which forum is was posting in :( The tutorial remains the same (like the song) but as David mentioned, substitute GEX for GEPro...Apologies again guys!-Paul
