PMDG 777 Panel?

Featured Replies

I really like vlying with the VC on the PMDG Queen of the Skyes, but recently I sticked more on the 2D because of performance issuesSoon however I will get new hardware and I hope FPS will increase
In my experience, once you have a system that runs FSX easily at high settings, there isn't much difference in performance between the 2D and VC. I see maybe a 2 fps average difference between the two views.

PMDG made it clear some time ago that the 'lighter' products like the JS41 would not have 2D but that the "full" products like the NGX et al would have 2D.

2D panels are essential and im sure (god i hope so) that they will be included in th up coming NGX. And while on the topic . . . where are some some screen shots!!!!!!!!

If I've got it right.... These VC only -solutions are only in use with the smaller and cheaper planes, such as JS41 and upcoming Q400. (?)When you pay more, you expect to have things like 2D also.Aleksi Lind

does the PMDG have a 777????? Dario

:( wow.... I did't know it... Dario

I only use the VC during cruise, during takeoff's landings, and taxi I use the 2d panel because its easier to use pop up panels instead of having to pan the cockpit with the mouse, which may require me to come to a dead stop on the taxiway if I need to look away for more than 30 seconds. Also I love how Project Tupolev lets us fly models without a VC, it increases my frames by 5-7 fps and the mini overhead lets me fiddle with radios, etc while being able to keep an eye out the window at the same time while taxing. (radios are on the overhead in the Tu-154M). Sure VC's are nice, but there are some of us who care only about operating the plane and do not really care for aesthetics. VC's are great don't get me wrong, but this is just my personal preference.

TrackIR makes some aircraft like the PMDG 747 and MD11 flyable exclusively in the virtual cockpit.

I loves my TrackIR and it brings a lot to my simming. Of course there are still knobs that you cannot adjust in VC (even with T-IR), so at least the 2D pop up is needed. In genereal it is good to see so many different reasons for what they prefer and why. When alone I fly mainly VC, but when I have my nephew over or someone else I am trying to show the sim to I have to do 2D or watching my 3Dism with head turns makes it confusing and I find 2D much better to show people with. 2D also is much easier to make video tutorials with. There are things with some people it is just a preference but in others cases without 2D it just wouldn't be functional period.

I don't think this 2D vs VC is the same sort of "moving on" issue as moving from FS9 to FSX is. I think this is a fundamental way in which people operate their simulated aircraft, and of course the frame rates. It would be unfortunate if this issue ended up with pro-VCers telling 2Ders to "move with the times", as it's not a matter of "the times".Cheers,Rudy

It's also a matter of screen size. If you run FS in a laptop (like me) with a not very big screen, the process of moving left and right, up and down, zoom in and zoom out to be able to see anyting in those tiny gauges, doing that with the +,- keys and the hat button placed in the top of your joystick, the same joystick you are using in that very moment trying to control by hand 58 tons of moving aluminium (say the 737-700)...uh, that seems to be too many things at the same time.2D cockpits for me please.

Sorry guys, but really! What a bunch of lame excuses... You already use a mouse so just exactly how difficult is it to press the space bar at that same time? Plus and minus keys too awkard? Use the scroll wheel one your mouse. Knobs you can't adjust in the VC? What aircraft are you using? It is not a recent one so probably looks just as cartoon-ish in 2D as VC. Oh, and having to stop on the taxiway because you have your head down for more then thirty seconds - that is an airmanship issue, not a 2D vs VC one.

Paul Smith.

Haha Paul, :( You have to be the most negative individual on this forum. In many posts, if it's how you do it, then that's it, there is no better way, and if it's how you prefer it, then that too is arguable by no one.It has nothing to do with excuses, in some cases VC is just not an option for some and in most cases it's personal preference. How the hell can someone be wrong stating their own personal preference? Hahaha, Serious Paul, check your cabin pressure, I think you might need some o2.
