FSX + BP=0 + nVidia GTX 480

my rig is struggling in clouds, 10fps in the virtual cockpit of the PMDG 747X. Really annoying. I wonder if I need a higher texture band multi. I think I set it to 80 or 120. I am using nicks settings for nhancer with the latest drivers for my 285gtx

It does, yes.. but, I have not 'tested' what it does yet, it appears to be the threshold where the buffer pools get flushed to the GPU, so, the lower this value, the faster the commands in the queue go to the GPU.. however, IF you use a PoolSize under 1MM you are already going under that threshold. this is, of course NOT NEEDED if you have UsePools=0

Thanks very much.By the way this parameter looks interesting 'SmallPartRejectRadius'.

[sCENERY]SmallPartRejectRadius=<pixels>Basically this culls out small model parts (e.g. air conditioners on roofs of buildings, aircraft doors) if their radius would occupy less than the specified number of screen pixels. The default is 1.0 (i.e. 1 pixel). 2, and 4 are the next 2 settings we advise. Can significantly improve performance but may cause “popping” of small objects Posted: Tuesday, May 15, 2007 4:29 PM by Phil Taylor Filed under: tips...also...http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=63986jja

The CPU is still the most important hardware.
I agree. You should run your splendid CPU chip at a core speed of 4 to 4.2 GHz. :( Why don't you do that?

Best regards from RelaxX

Seems to be a SP1 tweak that have no or very little effect with FSX SP2.
It is now in another 'section' is not part of [sCENERY] any more (it was moved) to the [GRAPHICS] section and can be seen, not only in the DLL's but also here:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526948.aspx

Sure the setting exists, but that's not the point. The point is if it really have any impact on performance? As far as I can judge from experts the answer is no. No need to use this setting. Do you disagree??? :(

Relax, I was simply pointing out the fact it is NOT part of the [sCENERY] section any more. I didn't even mention the word performance! so don't jump into conclusions so fast. I did not post to disagree with you o Nick.

Who cares? That setting doesn't work with SP2 :(

Maybe it does if you lower your other settings? Are there any other old SP1 tweaks we should know about? Not kidding here, I could use a few tricks for my antique rig!

Do you use FSX SP1 or SP2?

I use FSX with Acceleration, and I've been looking thru the "menu" here:http://www.highflightsimulations.com/site/index.phpIt looks good, can choose what I want, and see what works.Being my own "Sim Guru" so to speak, I like that! :(
