Right, someone in the shipping department wanted it. :)jja

Grrrrrrr! :( I just spoke to my supplier on the phone and they told me that they tested my 480 GTX before they shipped it and it was faulty. If that is true I don't know why they would even open the box up, so who knows? I sure don't. They also said that they are getting a new shipment of 480's tomorrow and they will get another one to me by overnight to arrive on Thursday. Again, who knows? Oh well, life is still good! :( StephenEdit: Nah, the more I think about it the more I can not imagine why anyone would just open the box and test the cards. I think that it is far more likely that oversales took place, so I cancelled the 480 GTX order and placed a different order elsewhere for the only thing I can seem to get anytime soon, a EVGA 470 GTX, which will arrive either Thursday or Friday, I hope. This is becoming a long and ridiculous saga, soooo no matter what happens now, I will be surprised and delighted when some kind of Fermi video card, something, anything, from somebody, anybody, from somewhere, anywhere, arrives by courier. :( Stephen
Might be a way they try to cover up the fact that the card was returned, meaning the box was opened up.

Just got my 480 installed. Ended up breaking off half a pcie slot trying to get my 5870 out. Argg.. luckily still have 3 more slots to play with and the giant 480 overlaps the broken slot. The clamp system on the gigabyte board is a huge pain in the arse.Anyways, will test once I get the drivers installed and everything set up!!

I am so confused about how this helps. Would you please dumb this down for me bojote. SO I have a GTX260 and I dont use the the BP-0 tweak because it always crashes. You say there is no FPS gain whatsoever with the GTX480. If that is the case, what gains would I see besides stability? I have smooth perf at 30 locked at most normal to large sized airports and using most add-on aircraft......Sometimes the FPS will dip down to 20-25 and that is the more realistic avg. At FSDT KFLL in PMDG and CS aircraft I get around 15 FPS but no stutters at all. I like my sliders maxed and what not. If I wont see any FPS gain, How will the GTX480 help me? Does BP=0 give extra FPS or just helps to stop stutters? I use the HIGHMEMFIX=1 tweak and I have been scratching my head trying to understand what the CPU and GPU do fro FSX since you posted your findings in the PMDG forum. Sorry if I sound stupid but I would love to learn all these things you explain and talk about.

Are you getting acceptable performance with bad weather in dense sceneries like Manhattan X?This is where BP=0 really shines!

I disagree, I don't think BP does anything more for smoothness, as long as you have highmem and an acceptable tbm number, unlimited frames in fsx and the external framerate limited program. THAT is what smooths the sim. BP just lets you throw everything at a powerful card and cpu, and gives you a few more fps in some instances. I find it highly unstable

So here's whats up.I have yet to deal with Nhancer except forcing VSync. Ahhh! No more tearing with the 5870. Yay.Things overall run smoother, and autogen doesn't bother this thing at all. Clouds are set to max and I get little to no stutters when they are loaded in or flow in to. The ATI really struggled with both of these giving me stutters and a bit of lag when flying over dense forests or thick clouds. My test flight gave me 13 - 18 FPS flying over KSEA airport. Once I got about 1000 AGL and turned away from the airport towards the mountains, I was hitting 30 FPS no problem. There were some spikes coming, although they were coming at 32 - 33 FPS. I think I have some playing with to do on my CFG file, but overall, I am very satisfied with the card. Everything looks very crisp, and the night lighting at airports looks a lot better for some reason.I'll see what I can do with Enhancer to make things shinier.

Hello , Could you please say your other conditions during test? your aircraft? 2D panel or VC? Weather? Time? Default scenery? Thanks

I dont use that type of scenery. So BP=0 does give extra FPS? I mean the only problem I have is the FPS getting low.....not the stutters. I just dont want to shell out money fro this card then be disappointed. On the flip side, I wonder how it handles other games like farcry 2 and crysis and the likes.

VCDefault SceneryMaxed AI with TrafficXMed x WaterMax Cloud cover and distanceMedium Airport Vehicles10% Ground/Water TrafficTried Using Nhancer and it just didn't look right. Anti-Aliasing was making some text a little fuzzy for me. Then again, I probably did something wrong there. Not using it now and FSX looks and works just fine.

Spot on! Before BP=0 I had to choose to have either add-on Heathrow Airport or VFR London X enabled whilst turning off UTX. Now I can have it all enabled and FSX runs amazingly smooth.

Beware though that not all those slots may be PCI Express x16: a few of them probably are PCI Express x8.

You have to keep this in mind:It's your entire system. You can't just throw in a card into any system and expect it to create a miracle. I happen to be lucky that I have a system that can handle BP=0. If I take that away, fps would be in the single digits when flying in Manhattan X with poor weather very dense AG and airports like FSdream JFK and Imagesim's LGA.With BP=0 and other tweaks, plus latest driver, I'm getting 25-30 fps and smooth flight.

...One more thing Mr 'Nelson', for someone in Sweden you sure do have some strange sleeping habits :) more like someone located this side of the pond.......
Just noted your posts in the thread FSX vSync FIX. And the only thing I have to say is:Well Mr 'Smith', for someone in Florida you sure do have some strange sleeping habits :) more like someone located this side of the pond...:( Do you still think that I'm Nick Needham?:( An apology would be nice :(

An apology would be nice
Sure, just give me your phone number... forum apologies are meaningless, I rather speak to you :) of course.. if you don't mind.
