FSX + BP=0 + nVidia GTX 480

Maybe some simmers that have problems with artifacts when using "your discoveries" might have better success with some other tweaks. Is that a problem?
Ulf, the purpose of 'this' thread, is to also let those 'people' having problems with 'artifacts' know that a GTX 480 will completely solve that problem. So, to answer your question: No, evidently I don't have any problem whatsoever with you posting links to old guides, but we are talking about 'new' hardware, so you are contradicting yourself posting old tweaks in a 'new' hardware thread! come on.. it's common sense buddy. Go fly, have fun and go green! (nVidia green) not envy green :)
Try dumping a cup of water on it :( Seriously this is great news *******, now I just have to wait a few more weeks for my tax return.
it's 2010 :) e-File it next time. have fun!

I found the same with the 5870, *******: I clocked it (mildly) up to 900/1300, with a small vcore increase, but no noticeable increase or difference. I'm not sure if the shader clock can be increased yet. Still happy with the card, though, except for the vSync issue. I've found, also I can run quite high traffic with almost no effect on frames, and these are .mdl files: what pulls it down is still very heavy clouds, and places like Seattle. AG has almost no penalty, and can be run at maximum, with ScCompl pulled back to VD. I'd like to try the 480, but my lovely wife would kill me if I got one after purchasing the 5870.... :(
hi paul j. I have a vapor-x 5870 - You can force vsync in fsx and win 7 x64 with ati tray tools. that's what i'm doing and i have great performance thanks to *******'s tweaks. and thanks for your great posts *******.

Old tweaks are simply, OLD.BP=0 is simply a revelation. I don't know how I flew without it. Now that I think of it, I wasn't really enjoying what I had.To be able to fly in NYC with bad weather, at night, with lots of traffic, rain, and very dense AG with silky smooth flying is just amazing. Before, BP=0, new tweaks, and the new nvidia 197.45 driver, FSX was a slide show in the example above.I don't even see shimmering scenery anymore. I've never seen such sharp textures and beautiful colors. I have never seen an overcast layer in FSX. Now I do!For anyone who ever wanted to fly in and out of clouds, in the mountains, with bad weather and with the speed of an L-39, simply try using the guide and latest drivers. You will be amazed. I sound like Mitch. :(

*******, What are your REX settings? In particular, are you running the max resolution clouds?

*******, can you tell me the brand of your card? There is an Evga on newegg clocked at 725Mhz out of the box. (It's only a matter of time before we see some 485)Can you also max out FSX, I mean water 2 x max and everything to the right, car traffic, +++, clouds max distance and so on, I would like to know how far you can push this 480 without having any artifact of any kind.Thank you for keeping us up to date.PS: Using TextureMaxLoad=?, how high can the number be?

Hey, Zorg; Yeah, me too: there's a couple of vSync "fixes" in the hardware forum:- http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=279680 but using ATITools "force vsync on", as was suggested, it caused one-two seconds black-screen hesitations that were totally unacceptable. The fix for that was to set triple buffering to "off ", but it didn't fix it. I might be missing something, so I'll give it some more attention. Thanks for the tips, though; it's nice to know someone else has good success.

*******, thanks for your tests, but could you please make a few tests with this system. Thanks in advance :(

i'm have my fsx profile in ati tray tools set up like this:-force vsync vista workaround on- no triple buffer- catalyst ai off- flip queue size = 0 (frames to render ahead) <- try this one- support dxt texture, geometry instancing both on- 4xaa box, 16xafthe only side effect i have with vsync forced is that it takes a little longer to load the sim, also after being in a menu like the fsx map or switching aircraft (the screen stays blurred for a few seconds). i have no pauses when using atc menu or a2a's aircraft menus.

tried them, but didn't like them.. the look over realistic :) so, I use the 1024 ones. also 1024 Water textures.

It's a GIGABYTE card. (I wanted the eVGA) but after camping a WHOLE week pressing F5 on newegg, found the GIGABYTE. at least, it overclocks well :) 800/1600/1848.

UPDATE: I'm happy to report that I can officially declare this GTX 480 a winner ;)It's the perfect combination: BP=0 + GTX 480 + IQI'm pretty sure the GTX 470 will be the same, but better to read others reports. So, finally Ultra Dense + smoothness.. there is really no point in 'tweaking' now ;) I doesn't get better than that.

Thanks, Zorg! This is quite different. I'll try these settings tonight.

Your GTX 285 is also considered now 'OLD' in hardware years, go get a 400 series so you can join the club so you don't need to read old guides anymore. Join the revolution :) it's a fact! you'll see 100% of people with the 400 series having 100% success with BP=0.One more thing Mr 'Nelson', for someone in Sweden you sure do have some strange sleeping habits :) more like someone located this side of the pond....

*******,Can you please post your FSX confg.file?Thank You.
