April 27, 201016 yr Here I am 4 years and three hours later and this program still refuses to work. ASX, ASA, ASE. No matter how many coats of pretty paint you put on it, it still doesn't work. How does everyone put up with this?Sorry for venting like this, but I just wasted my flight night trying to get ASE just to work, and I'm not very happy about it. :(
April 27, 201016 yr I could never get the weather to input properly into FSX. Jim helped for a while but then quit replying to me (guess he didnt have any answers left to give me why the program failed to work properly). I solved my problem though....I bought REX2 and never looked back. Works like a charm right out of the box. Eric
April 27, 201016 yr Author I could never get the weather to input properly into FSX. I solved my problem though....I bought REX2 and never looked back. Works like a charm right out of the box.As much as I hate to admit it I think you're right. Just as a test I fired up AS6.5 and it worked just fine. So that tells me that ASX/ASA/ASE (All of which I paid for) is a flawed product. And what makes me even more ###### is that I spent $150 getting upgraded to the latest and greatest. For that type of money I'd expect much more.I feel I've been ripped off and I'm really, really angry about it. :(
April 27, 201016 yr I have to say i am also very disapointed with HIfisim...ASE is a masterpiece in weather rendition... The weather looks so real, it's impressive.BUT i tried everything, and had so many frustration to get it working, i've finally given up.What makes me even angry, is that there are lots of users that have reported the problem about wrong destination winds. I believe that's a very critical bug, since it makes the whole software useless. And guess what? they released a service pack that correct a bunch of unimportant bugs, like popping clouds, and warning text, but didn't fix the most important issue that is: given the correct weather! This has been the last time HifiSim has seen my money on their products.Kind regards,Carlos
April 27, 201016 yr For what it is worth, ASE has worked great since day 1 for me in FS9. I haven't tried it in FSX.It is a shame that FSX users have so many problems. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
April 27, 201016 yr Author For what it is worth, ASE has worked great since day 1 for me in FS9. I haven't tried it in FSX.It is a shame that FSX users have so many problems. My situation is a networked environment. Ever since ASX the networked scenerio no longer works, even though ASX/ASA/ASE supports this configuration. I haven't tried it locally on my flightsim PC. I won't install it. The less addons the better. That's why I offload addons to a networked PC. But I won't bend my policy for a product. So that's out of the question. Anyway, I don't see ASE/AS(whatever) ever being a useful addon. But since I'm vested $150 I have to give it try.Forgot to add that I'm using this with FS9 as well.
April 27, 201016 yr You never mentioned any of that in your post... everyone else mentions FSX. Anyway, ASE does not take that many resources. If you are running FS9 it shouldn't be a big deal running locally unless you have an older PC. I understand for FSX you need to free up every single resource, but for FS9 the hit is pretty minimal on modern hardware. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
April 27, 201016 yr Had ASX, ASA and ASE running local and networked in FSX without a single problem. So it might be a flaw in your configuration, not in the program.

LMKGreetings Robert,I don't have anything set up like that. But I do have MSN messanger installed. You can email me atM/a\tt/M\er\r/r\i/ll@comc\\\ast/ DOT NET .And we can discuss how to get connected in this digital world. :( I do appreciate the offer to help.I just noticed too that your home airport is CYVR. That has to be one of my favorite areas to fly into. (In the sim word). I just need to get Ultimate Terrain for Cananda and I'll be set.

April 28, 201016 yr The only problem I had with the dest winds being incorrect is when I had the dynamic rate of change set to 0, I would load up a flight, and it would inject the weather perfectly, but no mater where I landed the in the fs world the weather, winds, and baro would be the same as my departure airport, use a setting of 30 in ASE and try it out. I have not had any issues since.

If it works for other people then it should work for me. right?Pleasepost here your file ASE FS9 optionsHere is my FS9 options. The only changes I've made are through the GUI. Say if CYVR is one of your favorites check this out here... Jonathan is doing a superb job at depicting CYVR in all its glory. From what I have read he will follow up with an FSX version and it is all freeware. \Robert Hamlich/
