Airbus Family

Can someone explain what bugs are in the wilco/feelthere Airbus? I was thinking about buying that
I liked the wilco / feelThere Airbusses. I just reinstalled and looked forward to flying them, then saw the outdated graphics. They were good in their day, but standards have moved on. I sighed and uninstalled them.

Graphics are not soo bad imo.I just watched a friend flying his ft airbus from stockholm to vienna and I noticed that the fuel predictions of the fmc were way off.Looks like Feelthere always had a problem with this even if marciano claimed he fixed it. The FMC basically shows a destination fuel prediction higher than the fuel you have onboard. There was a thread on the ft forums awhile back but it has been locked !Anyone knows if they are going to do fix it ?

I'm not too keen on the external model textures, but that is easily remedied with merging it with the Project Airbus model. The VC doesn't look too bad. I haven't noticed a fuel prediction problem, but I'll look for it on my next flight with it. Other than that I haven't found any real major bugs in it. It handles LNAV and VNAV functions well as well as the FBW laws, except for the over speed protection. The only real problem I see is on capture of the G/S, she'll initially dip below it, but will recover in time for touchdown. I have a few videos with it merged with the PA model, if anyone's interested.

Thanks

Well, there is still hope (probably in a few months) with the Airsimmer Airbus A320 family advanced version which is in the works. I know there were issues with the basic A320 version but Airsimmer is hard at work fixing these bugs...Also, PMDG had mentioned that they will (eventually) work on an Airbus, I believe the A321.But you are right, too few Airbuses and none are really detailed enough for the ILS enthusiast.John

I love flying my "iddy biddy Jumbo"

If you visit feelthere forums (new and old) and run a search ( fuel predictions) you will get plenty of hits. Got a link to your vids ?Thankss

I wonder why no one talks about the Flightsimlabs Airbus in the works - as they claim for a good while now. They intend to make a !no compromises! full simulation. They pulled a real nice one on the Concorde so we have another chance here with them ...Flightsimlabs bus

Yeah, I think that's going to be the best chance for FSX, the Airsimmers advanced one will be for FS9 first, so, that will be a long time coming to FSX, if at all. With Lefteris at the helm of FSL, we stand a good chance a getting a PMDG quality A320. I doubt now that Lefteris is doing one, I doubt PMDG will go ahead with their's that they were thinking of doing after the 777.

Thanks

Yes, I await this one as the only real possible contender.

FSL's one is not out yet.I think it will be a good one for sure but for the time being if you want an airbus you have to make do with what's available :(

It's a real pity that Airbus models are so neglected. The company has approximately 50% market share in the industry, though we don't have evan a single adequately modern Airbus the quality of at least a Qualitysim 757 in FSX (adequately modern for me means A300-600 and up).I consider the high (and until these days, still unmatched IMHO) degree of automatism in an A320 and the fact that Airbus might be much more restrictive in giving out information the main reasons why there's no A320 series in FS.I still have to see whether Aerosoft is capable to deliver a "pro" version of their A320 that really deserves this title. What we've seen so far in the A320 area (Wilco, PSS et. al) has only scratched the surface of what an A320 really is.This is where the folks divide: On one side those looking for great visuals, on the other side those demanding the highest level of realism and simulation. And the latter may not be numerous enough to justify the extreme development needed to produce an A320 sim...I for my part live with the "certainty" that there won't be an A320 the quality of a PMDG MD-11 as long as FSX exists... And who knows what the future brings, maybe we won't ever see one...Andreas

The fact that EADS might not give out information regarding its systems would not really prevent a developer from creating a simulation of a modern Airbus. I myself produced several Standard Operating Procedure manuals for the real Airbus A320, A321 and A330, and if anyone wants to know what is in them, I'll happily tell them LOL.Of more practical benefit, there can't be many high end FS aircraft developers that have not got a driver of the real thing on board in some sort of consultancy role, and although they may not know how the systems they operate are programmed, they will certainly know them by experience, so they can advise in a more practical manner, by saying 'if you push that button, the aircraft does that, and this particular page displays', which is the kind of thing a simulated aircraft developer really wants to know.So long as a developer can make their add-on do the same thing as a pilot would experience, it won't matter how they achieve it in FS. They don't have to have it doing exactly what the real aircraft is doing under the hood, just make it appear to be the case, so there is no real need to have exact Airbus systems data, just the knowledge of what that system achieves.Al

FSL are probably as good/= as pmdg. They are developing a a320 so I think it would be safe to assume they will deliver.

I agree, I reckon FSL will probably pull it off and get us a decent A320. It'll take a while, but if they can model Concorde convincingly, then they can certainly do an A320.Al

I think FSL may be further along than we think, first Lefteris stated, they have been working on it for a while now. Then when someone posted it would be out in 2011 or 12, without committing to a release date, he stated, that was too long of a time frame. He also stated words to the effect (Of course this is PR hype right now, so take it for what it's worth) that he thought it would be the pinnacle of FS aircraft addons to date.

Thanks

Yup, I saw that comment too on their forum and thought the same thing, but then that time frame would be tight even if it didn't run into any problems, then got through to beta smoothly, got tested and then got all zipped up and a manual done all without a hitch. That's a pretty damn tight schedule for something that is proposing to be the best simulated FS add-on bar none. Not saying it is impossible, I don't know their set up or resources they have available, but it seems a bit optimistic, although you've got to admire the confidence.Al
