May 28, 201016 yr OK all you hard liners. Here is the C185F new and updated for FS2004 lovers.www.carenado.comRayM When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
May 29, 201016 yr Beautiful model, no 2D panel. Geeze, there are a bunch of professional sims out there that only have a 2D cockpit because that's what's important when flying in a fog bank. You got steam gauges and hopefully some luck! I wish these guys would re-think their position on this.Mark

There last few releases have no 2D panel and I do not have the time or energy to create my own. Graeme Butler
May 29, 201016 yr Yes - that has put me off Carenado now. There last few releases have no 2D panel and I do not have the time or energy to create my own.Carenado's virtual cockpits are so good that you don't need a 2D panel! At one time I used to do almost all my flying from 2D cockpits, but once I bought the Carenado Piper Seneca with it's incredibly good VC, I now much prefer to fly from a VC in every aircraft where possible, although unfortunately many are not up to the standard of Carenado's VCs. Can't see why it should stop anyone flying in a fog bank as the instruments are fully functional and you can turn up the panel lighting if needs be! :(Well I am off now to buy the Carenado Cessna 185, without even waiting for any reviews as I know that it's quality will be outstanding and unrivalled in the area of general aviation addons. Thank you Carenado for not abandoning us fs9'ers - you certainly have one loyal customer here for anything you produce for fs9!BillWindows XP Pro SP2; Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0Ghz CPU; Arctic Cool 7Pro; ASUS P5N-E-SLI Motherboard; 2GB Corsair 800Mhz DDR2 RAM; 768MB nVidia GeForce 8800GTX Dual VGA Graphics card; 2x 500GB SATA 7200RPM Hard Drive; 650W (2 x 12V) PSU; 1000GB Western Digital External Hard Drive; 150GB Western Digital External Hard Drive; CH Pro Yoke and PedalsAll powering 240GB of fs9 escapism!
May 29, 201016 yr You know what's really funny, most of us started flying by looking out of a passenger window and watching the ground fall away. One of the really nice visuals of a 2D cockpit is that you can use the hat button on your joystick to quickly glance out window and re-create the effect of the ground slipping away...without panning...and then jump right back to the 2D panel. I'm pretty sure I could recreate that effect but it is a work around. A 2D panel also, (at least to me), gets me immersed in the instrumentation. An in your face effect and ironically, is the least real part of trying to recreate an actual cockpit.Call me silly but I still think a 2D cockpit has a lot of value.Mark
May 29, 201016 yr I felt the same way about Carenado and their lack of 2D panels. But I broke down and purchased their Arrow and like it so much that I also purchased their Archer II. The quality and clarity of the Carenado VC panels are great.Tom
May 30, 201016 yr When I fly in the VC I use the 4 directional arrows on the number pad to achieve the same effect as the hat switch in 2D. Works fine-except I use my left hand. :>))
May 30, 201016 yr Great news, now if we can just squeeze out that F33A and Caravan I'll be happy... :( FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

If you want true immersion in the instrumentation, get this and you can lean forward to see the instruments better, etc... much better than a 2D cockpit...
May 30, 201016 yr Yeah, I'm definitely not into Track IR. I really don't want anymore software running in the background when using FS9. I've heard that the people who do like that product really swear by it though. I'm not interested myself, however, what I am interested in is Carenado creating 2D cockpits for their FS9 aircraft.Mark
May 30, 201016 yr I'll be buying this plane on Monday, as soon as I get home from vacation. Carenado's VC's are so good that I really don't miss them in their planes, although I still prefer 2D for airliners. I've found that increasing the pan rate and mapping the zoom keys to a yoke rocker switch makes VC's a lot easier to live with. John G.

One of the really nice visuals of a VC is that you can use the mouse to pan your gaze around and look at anything in the cockpit or out any window you want to look out just the way you move yr eyes in a real cockpit. Then you can just hit the spacebar to instantly recenter your view on the panel which looks and works every bit as good as a 2D panel. Plus, if you are willing to take about 1 minute to do so, you can set the arrow keys (or hat switch, or any other input you have available) to snap your view directly left or right just like in a 2D panel! Oh, and you're silly. :(

Oh, and you're silly. :(I agree, a bit silly when with ActiveCamera you can easily set numerous camera viewpoints and save them to a keystroke. Then using FSUIPC you can map that keystroke to a joystick command. Nothing could be easier than flipping the A1/A2 buttons on my Saitek Yoke. (buttons over your left thumb on the yoke) Now when I press up on that button I get more of a VFR landing view and when I click down my viewpoint is looking at the panel. Brilliant!! No reason you couldn't make one of those keystrokes or buttons that view down out of the cockpit... For me that is always my ctrl-0 view...And for as long as I have lived my head has never snapped to a view LOL... If I want to look to the left my head pans to the left and visually I get a quick glance of everything I see as my head moves. So if you want to mimic real life as others have said; panning is actually FAR more realistic ;) I think I just pulled two muscles in my neck trying to snap it down :(But to each their own and whatever makes you happy I respect...Cheers,-Paul Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
May 30, 201016 yr I said call me silly because I think that an aircraft feels incomplete to me if there is no 2D cockpit. Now many people are voicing all of the workarounds that I would have to go through to look out the side windows. Only some have addressed the fact that there is NO 2D cockpit in the aircraft and it appears that fact is being marginalized by some.So the reality check here is that I like the 2D cockpit better then the VC and think that we're kind of being snubbed not to have one. By the way, what is the reason for the snubbing of the 2D cockpit?Mark
