Piaggio Avanti 180 from Wilco

Featured Replies

That's strange. This is the first time I've read about this. It does not seem to be affecting some the other users of the Avantii, unless nobody has noticed yet (which would be wierd considering the issues you posted about).I would imagine issues like this, if prevelant among quite a few users, will no doubt be looked into by the devs.
Well I tried again, and a few of the problems seem to have cleared up or are only problems in the VC. The engine instruments now come up in both. It would seem that I can only use the knobs to adjust altitude and v/s and only effectively on the 2d panel, I had joystick buttons assigned in FSUIPC that won't work for the altitude functions on this p180, but do work for the heading and speed. The knobs in the VC seem to all "work" with a grab and drag rather than a + or - click, unfortunately the grab and drag works lousy. altitude in 400 ft increments, transponder setting hit and miss whether you get the first digit or last 2 digits.... never the second digit. No change on the altimeter setting by the grab and drag, only on the 2d panel with the + and - clicks. After a while the heading bug seemed to get stuck though would not change whether I clicked the knob or my Joy button, there's no indication about how to use the FMC (GPS) for the nav function of the A/P. Still pretty messed up, but at least I got more to work in some form.

I don't recall Wilco ever making a product worth buying, and it looks like that trend is continuing.
I don't believe Wilco made the Avanti. I think it might be Aeroplane heaven. On a side note, one of the developers (Lead Developer?) "Bazzar" is posting in this thread here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=38339It would appear they are pretty intent on providing good support for their product. My hat goes off to them for tackling a rather peculiar aircraft and bringing it to us in FSX. I love corporate type aircraft so the more the merrier (I especially like the Avanti).

I really like the Avanti also, but was expecting more from whoever put out this aircraft. I checked the "Wilco" site almost every day waiting for the release. I was expecting something of the quality of their prior products.Curtis

The Developer seems pretty active at SOH and seems like a good guy. We should give them time to get some patches/updates out. The best thing to do right now is to report issues to Wilco so they can be passed on to the developer for looking into/fixing.

Sounds fair to me, still a little disappointed though.Curtis

cmon now the e-jets look nice, same with the erjv2 except for the lack of vc night lighting... I enjoy the 737 classic series. Aren't you being a little hard on them?
I think Wilco targets different customers.Possibly not flight simulation enthusiats.Feelthere did develop the erj2 which is not so bad. except for that annoying yellowish night lighting .eew.You say the ejets look nice. Are the onboard systems simulated ?I took a look at other wilco planes and while some of them look decent from the outside their Vc is chit imo

I'm looking forward to the patched version. Thanks for the reviews. At least the video was entertaining. :(

The VC on the Avanti is actually pretty nice, IMO. It has a clean high-class look to it, the gauges also seem very smooth. I like it quite a bit. I am also really enjoying the feel of the Avanti in flight. It feels solid, but at the same time nimble, tough to really describe it.

Picked it up last night - and agree with the reports that current release is pretty buggy. Only two that I would add to the bugs to watch out for are that sound cuts out quite a bit if I switch to an external view while in flight, and with the included ferrari - I get a CTD if I try to view the panel (shift+1). Using Vista 64. Sent a note off to Wilco. Got a very combative and unfriendly response telling me that even MS does not support FSX on Win XP 64/Vista 64, that I should have installed the product under admin rights (which I did in the first place), and that I need to read their (oh so comprehensive (scarsim mine)) support page. There is lots of feedback and warnings in the forums about Wilco customer support and the quality of their products, they have lived up to their reputation on both counts with this release - (I certainly can not claim that I did not have advance warning on tossing my $ away on this). Good to hear the the dev behind the product is more attentive to feedback that Wilco themselves.

Wierd, I've never had an issue with Wilco support. In fact, Wilco Support emailed me the other day asking for schreenshots of issues I am having and if I could send them some pictures. I did so and they added my issues to the "to-do" list. Are you sure what you are taking for an attitude might not just be the difference in language (I am not sure if everybody over at Wilco uses English as a first language)?

To be fair, their site states that they do not support FSX on Win XP 64 or Vista 64, however I purchased the product knowing that. The response to my trouble ticket simply reiterated that fact without any comment at all on the issues, and closed with the statement that Microsoft themselves do not support FSX on Vista 64. I do not believe that English was an issue; the response was well worded and very direct. Given that they state upfront that they do not support the OS that I run their plane on, it is certainly up to their discretion as to whether or not they provide any form of support or comment on the issues. They have chosen not. Purchasing the product was a gamble that I should not have taken. Live and Learn - will wait for the reviews to come out first next time!- Jim Edit: I do have the E-Jets prodcut from Wilco, which is not supported on Vista 64 either, but have enjoyed it bug-free for a fairly long time, thus the rational for the purchase.

For what it's worth, I use Win7 64 and have not had ay issues. Do you have UAC on?

Thanks - UAC is turned off. Permissions on all directories are set too allow full access. Addon was installed with Admin rights. I do not have any issues with other addons from all the PMDG craft to the LDS 767, Ejets, Eagle Soft Citation X, and so on... Only 2 issues - and they are really not show stoppers. Sound cuts out on the plane when on an external view - ie spot view. The sound restores if I switch to VC or any other view. On the car, CTD when hitting shift-1 for panel. Not a biggie with the car as I don't really need to see a panel - but was looking forward to taking a cruise around some of the addon airports with it though!Have not really taken a solid flight in the plane yet to see if any of the other reported issues exist. Cheers - Jim
