July 30, 201015 yr Moderator I just saw that Gibraltar X was released for FSX today and while it looks good I have never purchased any sceneries made by them I would like to know what to expect. I figured that they probably aren't on the same level as say FlyTampa, ORBX and FSDreamteam, which is ok since not many scenery designers are, but really I am interested in how Sim-Wings sceneries perform. As of late, I have only been about 75% satisfied in sceneries I have purchased from Aerosoft and some developers they publish. Although I did buy Lisbon X 2 days ago on sale, I am happy with it after spending a few hours looking at all the textures and mip mapping them. Then of course there was the troubles with Schiphol, which I was lucky I hadn't purchased yet.Any one who buys Gibraltar X or has used their sceneries for FSX please post back with you experiences using them. Thanks in advance. July 30, 201015 yr Definitely YES!!!SimWings sceneries are one of the best on the market. I'm sure you'll like the great Gibraltar scenery.Patric
July 30, 201015 yr I would have thought that their stuff was exclusively for FS2004 apart from Heathrow. At least that is what is apparent from their webpage.Like for example they have a Madrid-Barajas - do you think that is available for FSX as well?Thx,Alex

The Sim Wings site doesn't seem to be up to date. I think Gibraltar X is the only FSX from them so far however. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

July 30, 201015 yr Caution, random musing ahead...Is anyone else tired of the predictable "X" being tied to the end of every product name? We get it, it's for FSX, and in some cases it applies to products that have dual compatibility. Just name the product and list compatibility and I think we can figure out the rest. :( - Aaron
July 30, 201015 yr Downloading Gibraltar as we speak, I already own the Balearic and they are great looking and have good performance ;)Screenshots of Gibraltar in about an hour should be available, in the worst case tomorrow ;)The download is 650 megs (should of downloaded from the office :( ) Cheers, Thomas

July 30, 201015 yr I've bought Balearic Islands X i'm just waiting for it to arrive in the post! It does look fantastic though,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQ0VDkv5Q6c And checkout this breathtaking video of the Ibiza approach, I like the look of Barcelona aswell, I thought it was already FSX compatible though (no idea tbh).
July 30, 201015 yr Ok I had the chance to very quickly fly around the island, the scenery is very nice and very very fluid on my system, no stutters in the Carenado Bonanza.. Can't wait to fly an A321 down there. I'll try and get some screenshots tomorrow, but price wise I find it very nice ! Cheers, Thomas
July 30, 201015 yr Sim Wings is one of these beast scenery developers up there with flytampa fsdreamteam I really cant speak about performance in fsx as that is not my main sim for heavy airports. but Gibraltar X should preform well in your system. July 30, 201015 yr Author Moderator Thanks for the input. I asked over on the Aerosoft forum as well and Oliver from AES told me he though it was one of Sim Wings best jobs so far as far as optimizing a scenery for performance. Looks like it is mipped or textured correctly from what I have heard and since no one is reporting the dreaded shimmering.Guess I will give it a go as well. Just picked up Lisbon X yesterday and its not bad either, as long as you dont mind mipping the textures yourself. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
