July 30, 201015 yr Can you elaborate? He mean's adding mip mapping to the texture http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mipmap to reduce aliasing artifacts some devlopers dont bother to add any and can make the scenery look bad depending on how they made there texture files. July 30, 201015 yr Author Moderator Can you elaborate?Yes. What I mean is that when I bought the scenery Lisbon X, the textures that came with the scenery had no mip maps, which a lot of times causes a scenery or an aircraft to have the shimmering effect that normally is considered undesirable, unless you work at Aerosoft, then you will prefer textures with no mips. So, what you have to do if your scenery has no mip maps and is shimmering, you use a tool like Imagetool or DXTBmp to add mips to .bmp files or if the textures are in .DDS format you can use DDS Converter 2 or DXTBmp. It's pretty easy to do and I use it most often when I add AI, since most AI textures include no mip maps, and in some cases when I buy a new addon scenery and it has shimmering problems. July 31, 201015 yr All the scenery builders talking about in this forum are all fantastic!BUT, and you can take it for granted, with FSX, once you load a complex aircraft (PMDG, Captain Sim,...) you WILL be photoshooting down to the runway untill your rollout has finished no matter what recent rigg you might be having! Its topnotch eyecandy untill you start moving.Grtz,D.

If your making a generalization then I will have to disagree because I get good FPS in pretty much all my complex airport addons, even when using a complex plane like PMDG or LDS.Have you tried Gibraltar X with a complex a/c? If so which one and what type of computer do you have as far as what CPU and what is its clock speed? Thanks, your the first one to report this. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

July 31, 201015 yr Ground traffic stops for user a/c, and if you set your nav2 to 108.0 you can stop traffic for the AIs - or to just be cruel to drivers.

August 5, 201015 yr Author Moderator A quick update to those that came into this thread and provided feedback on this product.I bought, downloaded and installed this scenery tonight and I must say that like everyone else said, it's very well done. Not a shimmering or flickering texture in sight!!!! Which is a welcome relief after most of the stuff I buy from Aerosoft requires lots of at home, do-it-yourself, mip mapping and touch ups. Even though Aerosoft didn't produce this scenery, that has been the case of other sceneries I have bought from them that they didn't produce and always from stuff that they do produce.I took the LDS 767 for a spin around the circuit in the day and night and even sprinkled in some bad weather as a test. I am happy to say that I was ably to maintain between 30 and 40 FPS most of the time and more importantly around the same 30 to 40 FPS on final. Plus the cars that stop short of the runway when taking off and landing is a really nice touch. If Sim Wings Madrid performs as well as this I will be a buyer of it, as well as other sceneries they do for FSX.RegardsSean Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
