August 17, 201015 yr Commercial Member Take the example of the controller that is nagging you even after you left his frequency. Or the very short time you are given before further nagging on many clearances. I don’t think these are major things to fix, in an otherwise decent ATC add-on.I personally think V4.4 is more than welcome here. You can then take all the time you want to write and test RC5Of course this is just the humble opinion of a registered user, and others may disagree.Actually, I'm with you 100%I know there are "lots of good things" planned for RCV5, but it may truly be a "step too far". There are just a few serious niggles with RCV4, such as those you describe, but with those fixed I am certain I could easily stick with "RCV4.4" or whatever for as long as it takes! The prime fix needed in my view is certainly the recognition of a change of frequency. Any wave currently playing for the old frequency should be immediately curtailed (not a problem as far as the wave playing interface is concerned), and RC continuing with whatever should happen on the new frequency. If the old frequency "missed" the acknowledgement, so be it -- it happens!RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. August 18, 201015 yr Pete has a valid point, and is something we could discuss, an update to RC v4.3. At this time nothing is on the table about doing that. The team has been focused on V5 and as I said before much work is still required.Bob
August 18, 201015 yr I think the main reason people keep talking about RC5, is because they get told every time they raise an issue with RC4.3, that it will be no more in version 5.Others simply ask because they are eager to buy, and would rather buy the latest.Take the example of the controller that is nagging you even after you left his frequency. In addition to the points you raise is the problem when you miss a waypoint, which in my experience happens most on the departure SID. Being asked later if you see yourself on the airway and being instructed to turn through 180 is annoying. I know that if you notice the miss before ATC you can request a direct to but surely it would be more realistic to be given this anyway?I'm no expert but couldn't this also be fixed in a v4.4?Iain Smith
August 19, 201015 yr Yeah..take all your time and do keep us posted, and I hope with the announcement of Flight, we'll eventually see RC there as well...;)
August 19, 201015 yr I would buy a v4.4 interim patch/update whilst we wait for RC5. As long as it addresses what needs to be addressed. RC to be able to see I am using COM2, not to yell at me because I do not being my turn or descent the very nano second after I confirm the clearence. Wouldn't mind just a basic STAR implementation like the SIDS are, "American Three Fourty, you are cleared to descend via the published arrival procedure to 11,000", would be the same as a PD, excpet make it so I will not get yelled at for not crossing 40NM out from airport at the arbitrary crossing restriction. And how about an option to tell off the ATC controller for giving me an undoable crossing restriction, or telling me to turn 180 degrees. And for not maintaining proper seperation while my TCAS is yelling at me to "descend! descend!" August 21, 201015 yr I can add my 5 cents... small corrections as mentioned above are a must. Maybe JD could consider it. Tom Link
August 21, 201015 yr ST1322, to be clear what small corrections are requesting? As you know RC today allows you adjust headings, speed etc in the general menu.Bob

August 21, 201015 yr An additional release of v4 would be great. For me, the three things that irritate me the most are:-Insufficient time to respond to a controller if using voice recognition addons. A variable that you can adjust for the controler nag timeout would solve that for me.-MIssed waypoints due to a SID change. An ability to either flag which waypoint is the start of the on-route leg so that the prevous waypoints are discarded or an ability to tell the controller of a SID change and to monitor from a particular waypoint.-Ability for RC to read ASE destination weather (I know its an ASE issue, but it would be nice)I'd be happy to pay for this functionality prior to getting RC5.ThanksSteve Stephen Munn
August 30, 201015 yr When was RC5 first mentioned? I'm relatively new to RC, so I wouldn't know. Although to be honest, I'm using the default ATC again. Two things I'm interested in as far as RC5 is concerned, taxi guidance and some kind of EditVoicepack access to the callsigns.Something I wouldn't mind seeing in 4.4 is the ability to turn off AI control. The visible freezes of AI, especially in the take-off queue are not my thing and slow down the already overloaded AI engine. What I find curious is that you set up a blog, then not use it for a year, that's not what's blogging is.:( Mike...

We still have lots of work to do, taxi guidance is just one of the many design points. AI's are still under the control of the FS AI engine, so the delay although "short" is built into the simulation. As far as the blog is concerned, for personal reasons, that I am not going into, it is "currently" not being used. You can expect in the future it will return and be very active. All of use beta team members have v5 installed along with v4.3 and I use one of them on EVERY flight.V5 will come, but not tomorrow :( Bob
August 30, 201015 yr It's a real pity we can't reverse enginer the FS AI system and take control of the AI completely by ourselves, that'd be SO cool...
August 30, 201015 yr AI's are still under the control of the FS AI engine, so the delay although "short" is built into the simulation. The delay/freeze/slew I'm talking about is built into RC. To make it appear as though AI based chatter precedes actual AI movements. Say there's an AI aircraft cleared to take-off by the AI engine, RC freezes it briefly, plays back the clearance, then allows the aircraft to continue. I'd prefer no freeze and a clearance that came after the facts. My suggestion is to make that a user option. Freeze and accurately timed RC messages or no freeze and RC messages after the facts. (Just a small thing that could make it into a possible 4.4 if that ever happened. Although judging on 5's progress, taking on a 4.4 may not be such a good idea.)A perfect example I've witnessed is at EGLL. The take-off queues at 27L, in my Afcad there are three queues... two on the north side, one on the south side. Watch AI take-off without RC, then sit in the queue with RC, major difference.:( Mike...
August 31, 201015 yr Mike, understand your request, that won't happen with an update to v4.3. There are just numerous development advancements under consideration. Whats important to one person is not to another. One debate that the team has had is a old time software issue, "design drift" trying to add too much and not make schedules. Its bad enough that we have a schedule hold right now, your idea is certainly worth noting, BTW we are aware of that issue too. :( Just to let everyone know, you can't imagine all the nuances we have had with JUST SID/STAR development and the menu systems that can drive them. Just hang in there WHEN, V5 is ready it will be GREAT :( Bob
