One thing I would like to see for NGX, is an iPhone application that turns the iPhone into a FMC for the NGX.

I think PMDG is waiting til this thread is the #2 most viewed thread on AVSIM, below their first NXG post. Then the third update will remain until it's the #3 most viewed thread...just over 60,000 presses of the refresh button to go...

I have a half serious/half joking question. When the NGX finally comes out, will the PMDG server be able to take the demand, or will it look like a mushroom cloud after an hour or so?

iPad FMC!! Would be sick, I dont have an iPad but if I did I would sell it to someone that would want an iPad FMC.

Our capacity has expanded hugely since the infamous 744 release that brought down not only us, but Avsim itself as well. We don't anticipate any problems.

Microsoft probably decided to do get back into the game (MS Flight) because of the increase in sales they have seen with everyone getting FSX recently in preparation for the release of the NGX. Although I say this jokingly, I can't help but think MS should cut PMDG a share of their recent FSX profits :(

Your wrong, this is easily the biggest release in FS History. I'm buying two copies of the NGX; one for me and one for somebody that wants it but can't afford it upon release.Ron Hamilton

Thanks for that link. I own that app and have been waiting for it to be compatible with PC. The refresh on it is very slow but that suits using it as an fmc just fine

Nice application, I know there are more of the same directed towards FSX.But this is not the application I was talking about, I don't need another display. I want a application that directly communicated with the NGX FMC. The graphic interface and calculations are on the iPhone, and only the data is communicated between the iPhone and FMC in FSX. Could be a small income source for PMDG, if it could be done. It would be cheaper than buying a real FMC, and it would work just like it for people with smartphones.

There looks to be an easier and cheaper way to do it than that. I've just purchased a 7" USB touch screen that works with Windows 7 64 bit. With specialised software that will launch very shortly, you should be able to drag the FMC and resize it to the 7" screen and use it as if it were the real thing. The screen cost 200 bucks, the software is 60 bucks. The cheapest FMC that I know of, on the market starts at 500+ bucks and you can easily pay 2000 for some models.Of course, at the moment this is pure speculation, but I should know if it's feasible by weeks end,Frank

Just so you know, the FMC (computer) and the CDU (the screen and keyboard you type into) are separate components. The CDU is simply an interface to the FMC and can also be used to interface maintenance functions, ACARS and CPDLC. All it is, is a terminal. So it would be rather unrealistic to have your iPhone run the FMC software, not to mention laggy. You wouldn't want laggy steering commands when executing an RNAV approach that requires 0.1NM accuracy.Perhaps what you want is the terminal (CDU)? The screen-split software mentioned above is actually a very realistic way of doing this.Nick Jones
