September 1, 201015 yr Author Actually, I did vote in both polls. That in itself corrupts the data as I voted twice whereas those who only fly one or the other will only vote once. I am not the only one to have voted twice. I alluded to voting twice, in both forums. There's nothing wrong with voting in both polls... Just vote 'FSX/FS9' meaning you have both FSX and FS9 installed somewhere in your home... :( FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
September 1, 201015 yr Fs9/fsx since day one of FSX release. And will stay this way until some i9+ from Intel and more utilities for FSX (for example, there's no external fuel loader for fsx like fsloader, and TOPCAT covers very few planes only).Cheers,Dirk.
September 1, 201015 yr There's nothing wrong with voting in both polls... Just vote 'FSX/FS9' meaning you have both FSX and FS9 installed somewhere in your home... :(That is exactly how I voted. I checked the FS9/FSX box twice, thus corrupting any data from being reliable as I am able to vote twice. Supporter GhostRecon.net | AGgReSsion WhiteKnight77's Place Mike Shannon
September 2, 201015 yr Author That is exactly how I voted. I checked the FS9/FSX box twice, thus corrupting any data from being reliable as I am able to vote twice.Interesting to read this from you as others I know have done the same thing, still you have sole users outnumber dual users in both polls. September 2, 201015 yr Some of you are taking this poll results WAAAYYYY too seriously. This is not an election or a vote on a contract, just a user who put the question out there.
September 2, 201015 yr Author Some of you are taking this poll results WAAAYYYY too seriously. This is not an election or a vote on a contract, just a user who put the question out there. The results are interesting as many (especially on the FS9 front) would like to know where people are at as it gives an indicator of future FS9 development. I myself am surprised by the results here. FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
September 2, 201015 yr Author Suggested poll is now in Hanger Chat to see what sim is mostly used by Avsim forum members today... FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
September 2, 201015 yr Although not a scientific poll it is interesting to note how many are still using FS9 given the number of 3rd party developers who have dropped FS9 development.I do fly both.Like most I have a lot of 3rd party scenery and aircraft in FS9 and I do like to fly into detailed airports plus it is more stable than FSX for on line flying.FSX has a lot of eye candy but is less stable than FS9 and the weather engine has more unsolvable bugs than FS9. I have to get used to FSX because of 3rd party developers moving to that platform.Wonder what delightful 'undocumented features' MS will bring to their new 'Flight' platform :(
September 2, 201015 yr I must confess I am surprised by the number of "FS9 only" users still around...I trust payware developers when they say FSX sales are much bigger, but then, there is something here I don´t understand.BTW, it would be nice if AVSIM itself put this poll in the front page, informative and useful for developers and users alike. September 2, 201015 yr I trust payware developers when they say FSX sales are much bigger, but then, there is something here I don´t understand.Well, what would you expect from most developers? :biggrin:It's easier for them to make products for one platform (FSX only) than for two, on condition that they convince you to switch to this platform (which many are trying to do, with a partial success).Luckily to us, FS9ers, not all devs go this way.
September 2, 201015 yr ............. I myself am surprised by the results here.I'm not. I always thought most people use mainly either FSX or FS9, the percentage dedicatedly using both should be substantially smaller in my opinion. Most people for whatever reason(s) would like one over the other and stick with it. That's why I asked where you got your initial user statistics of: FS9 - 30%, FSX/FS9 - 40%, FSX only - 30%; in the other thread.Happy to participate in your poll - my vote, FS9. September 2, 201015 yr I have purchased all the Flight Sims from FS '98, FS 2000, FS 2002, FS 2004, to FSX, as soon as they were released, but my every-day favourite is FS 2004, for many reasons, eg:It was/is problem-free, right from the start. It runs with all the sliders and options set to the max, on my antique Desktop machine. (Locked at 25 FPS)There are loads of add-ons for it, including ones to almost equal the FSX display....REX, RE Pro, etc...I have lots of Scenery Designer programs for it such as LAGO FSSE/FSE, Abacus EZ-Scenery, etc....and the most important reason....It uses my fantastic "FS Navigator" (which I purchased when it was first released) for all my Solo and on-line, Multiplayer, RADAR/Radio-Nav/Flight Plans, etc, flights with my Chums....something I wouldn't be without!... :( ....!My copy of FSX lies sulking in the bottom drawer at the moment..... :( ....!Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004...FS Nav... :( ....!
