September 6, 201015 yr I didnt really consider myself all that hardcore, but reading up a bit what others feel about airplanes in fs then I guess I am. I thought everybody wanted as much realism as possible and that everybody wanted complex and complete systems. I guess not. But since we both have a pretty similar views when it comes to simulation and realism, how do you feel the qw757 compare to the cs757, that is if you have tried the cs oneHere's my take. Captain Sim is the equivalent of a mountain climber who sets off to climb to the top of Mt. Everest. He spends years in preparation and bragging about the venture, get's to within 1,000 feet of the summit and decides to climb back down and go deep sea diving instead without ever finishing what he set out to do in the first place. Captain Sim 757 and 767 are so close to being at a LDS or PMDG quality that its frustrating to see that they never finish the job after getting so close. The problem with the 757 (like the 767) is not that they don't bother to model a lot of things...they just don't bother to model a lot of things well. The things that QW bothers to model in the sim are done according to the target of being a medium simulation with enough "meat" to keep you occupied. Here's a for instance. During the startup procedure the QW 757 it flicks on the fuel levers by itself. At first I'm thinking WHY would they do that? Why not just leave it alone for me to turn on. Well the fact is this is actually MORE realistic than meets the eye. During the startup flow one pilot monitors the instruments, the other turns on the fuel levers between 18% N1 and "max motoring" around 22% N1 as commanded. SO it's these little things that are done to make things "easier" that actually make it more realistic. Yes, its a medium simulation, but the things that are there work well. ON the other hand the CS757 has more "stuff" but many of the things are not implemented well. Even the start procedure was botched (having to have the engine bleed air valves open in order to start when in fact only the APU bleed air valve needs to be open). It's little broken things like this that make the Captain Sim claims of "high fidelity" frustrating. They never get around to fixing these things and then move on to the next aircraft. I'd much rather have a medium sim done well than a complex sim done half heartedly. Not to say that the QW 757 is perfect...it is not. The model is not a true FSX model even though this is being worked on and there are a few reported bugs.Of course if the LDS 757 ever gets finished I will hangar my QW 757 and put her out to pasture in favor of maximum complexity. BUT until that time the QW 757 IS THE BEST 757 available right now. Add in the fact that the visual model is impeccable, it comes with WL and 300 models and enough repaints to make your nose bleed. Yeah, go buy it my friend and you'll find yourself flying instead of on the CS 757 forums complaining. Just keep in mind that it is a MEDIUM simulation that LEANS more to the complex side (after the latest Service Packs) and keep your expectations in that range and you will be very happy.
September 6, 201015 yr I have the cs one myself and I wondering what is the difference simulation wise.I.E; what does the cs simulate that the qw does not and vice versa ?ThanksVicThey both simulate the same things, they just do it a bit differently. The biggest difference I remember is the FMC, CS has a few more items and pages in theirs, but QW has everything you actually need. Visually they are both stunning, inside and out.Whether you like one over the other depends on your flying 'style'. Personally I care less about starting from 'cold and dark' as a lot of others do. I want to hit the gate with the engines running and systems I need on. I set the FMC, trim, flaps, views, push back and go flying. They both are excellant at this if thats whats you like. If you want to start from C&D, then QW automates some system, hydrolics, electrical, etc where CS doesn't, you have to manually light everything up.It's all a matter of preference, both are excellant planes. September 6, 201015 yr I've never known a Captain Sim plane that didn't require days of tweaking by experts to be more realistic in the first place. Look at their more simple Cessna releases, the 185 and 208 both needed a lot of tweaking, they were closer to default flight dynamics. I couldn't imagine they had the 757 and 767 to Level-D realism levels. You are paying for good eye candy a little bit more realistic than default.

I think you're confusing Captain Sim with Carenado... Captain Sim has never produced Cessna releases... :(

The FMC is every bit as detailed as the vaunted Level D. In answer to the original question, yes, it's worth the money. So's the CS. Graphically the CS is better, but they're both good. The out-of-the-box experience is probably better with the QW and you get more stuff.
September 7, 201015 yr The QW team has added something really cool some nice cabin announcement's for upcoming service pack 2 not every developer does this after release. :Party:http://forum.qwsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2105&start=0 Cesar Martinez AMD 7800X3D RTX5080 NZXT N7 B650E | G.Skill 32GB DDR5 Samsung 980 Pro 2TB | Crucial MX500 (2×) | Crucial P3 Plus Monitor: Philips Evnia 34M2C6500 QD-OLED

September 7, 201015 yr Ummm... I think you're confusing Captain Sim with Carenado... Captain Sim has never produced Cessna releases... :(You're right, I was trying to compare Captain Sim's big iron to Carenado's Cessna's but didn't get the wording right. September 8, 201015 yr Why sit on computer pretending to be a Cargo Pilot? sorry but I take this comment as negative one your basically criticizing people for wanting to things like wing-views and cabin announcement's or I'm I wrong?Because it's practice in a sim. A flight sim. I just never understood products that turn it into fs passengers. They take away frames from my precious virtual cockpit all the modeled wings and cabin.
