QW 757

Um, that's just a little bit extreme IMHO. It is a bug. It is supposed to be fixed with SP2. You make it sound like it is a show stopper. Show stopper...auto brakes...really?
you've mis-quoted me - I was making no reference to autobrakes. My statement was a blanket statement about people who make incomplete heavy-iron. I think it is all a hold-over from Posky. As Posky was freeware, it was all good and I consider that they did an admirable service to the community with their products and gave some of these "lite" folks a chance (like CLS) to break into the biz. And, clearly, there's a market for the watered-dow stuff (off topic, there's also a market for horrible watered-down beer, go figure).I stated an opinion, inspired by Mike T.'s post, which pondered the watered-down heavy market with regret. Anyhow, I just felt I should clarify that I wasn't at all speaking to Autobrakes. I do realize this is a bug as they do INTEND to include this important feature. I'm not going to give them inordinate grief for something they mean to do, but are having trouble with. My concern is the things they are capable of doing, especially in the case of Ernie Alston, but won't do. As mike said, all that work and they stop short. Of course he was referring to CS, and I know QW's out is that they never promised it ("complexity simplified!?!?!"), but I think they are selling short.

Sorry. I didn't mean to twist your words. Nonetheless, the QW757 is not a "half-baked" lite product. It is not the same as a CLS aircarft. I have many CLS aircarft and I have the QW and they are not in the same league.

Once they come out with SP2, with higher res textures especially in the virtual cockpit, their 757 will be almost perfect. But too bad they couldn't concentrate on adding more realism although is will be cool to fly the 787 eventually.

I enjoyed your post. When the LDS gets finished? that's a good one, it's phantom-ware really. You've described CS very poignantly - I totally agree. What gets me about QW, and why I question how "on the team" Ernie Alston is, is that Ernie is TOTALLY capable of furnishing ALL of the missing parts. And, if he did so, for the most part, the LDS is irrelevant. Now, they wan't to do the 787? I just don't know about them... Basically, I feel that it is a waste of time to do these "half-baked" lite products.
Thanks for the compliment.QW's goal was different from LDS's, PMDG's,and CS (and even CLS) from the start.I've worked on projects for QW, Alphasim/F1, PMDG and others, and every developers goalis different as to the type of product they want, and to the type of customer they areaiming for. When you are part of the team, your job is to fulfill the goals and targets that team wants. That's what I did for QW.One of the reasons QW 'stopped short' as your paraphrase refers, was to not exceed their target price point. They also wanted an FS9 and FSX version, with all the variants, the repaints, the 2 cockpitsthe sounds, FDE etc as one complete package for one price.Keep in mind the 757 addon a while back promised to be a somewhat crowded market. CaptainSim was already there (although it was not as mature as it is now, and the support left a lot to be desired back then) LDS with a great reputation for the 767 indicated they had been actively working on their 757.QW had no idea whether LDS would release before them or not, you have to allow for the possibility, LDS would be released before or near the same time as QW. You have to allow for the possibility CS might improve their product and their support, or possibly lower their price later on (of which all 3 they did). You have to allow for the possibility that maybe CLS makes a Lite 757 (they still could). Why would QW want to produce the same aircraft at the same detail and systems simulationlevel as LDS targeting the same customers, at the same price in an already small FS addon market ?It would have made no sense. You need to have things about your product that's going to getsome customers to purchase your 757 product over the other developers 757 product. It has to be eitherQuantity, Quality, price, or a combination therof.QW targeted customers who tended to buy the 'Lite' products, but also the customerswho wanted more detail than the typical 'Lite' product provides but high fidelity systems simulation was not necessarily that important to them (IOW the Lite to Medium).
Basically, I feel that it is a waste of time to do these "half-baked" lite products.
Its no doubt that customers like yourself are vocal about your desire to see more addon Aircraft at the detail level that LDS and PMDG produces. But I think that really is the view of the minority rather than the majority. IMO only a minority of the customers are really seriously interested in high detail systems simulation. It may be a vocal minority, which we hear from a lot on forums such as these. But nonetheless they represent a minority of the overall FS addon customers. Back in the days when when the economy was better, the Lite market was practically nonexistent, and it didn't take like 2 years or more to produce a high detail FS addon Airliner product, it tended to be more worth the effort. Even if only a minority of your customers actually used and appreciated most of those cool realistic features you put in such effort to implement.Lately even PMDG has directed 'some' of their effort at products, that don't take such a long time to develop (J41, Q400).RegardsErnie.

That was the solution after a long thread in the hifisim forums regarding Active Sky and PMDG drivers. Something in the way it creates turbulence throws off airplanes that use VNAV/LNAV. It's just my guess since your symptoms are exactly what I experienced when Active Sky was trying to create turbulence.
Yes that sounds familiar. I have yet to check because of time. I have the the oscillating issue with the PMDG 747 so I bought a key for FSUIPC. As for the CaptainSim 757 this is the first time I have heard about it maybe it will help but I doubt it. I think this would have been verified by now.

I've just checked the QW forums and can't find the thread about the SP2 FSX update. Has it been moved? They said early October. Then mid October. And now..?This is what I hate about buying software online. If someone tried to sell a car/perfume/fridge etc that hadn't been tested properly there would be uproar and the company would get sued left right and centre. Release buggy software and all the customers are expected to keep quiet and sit around waiting for a new version while their hard earned money sits in the software companies bank account. One good thing. There is an amazing amount of superb freeware now available for FSX through AVSIM (most of which works fine "out of the box"). Thanks at least to those developers for keeping my hobby alive.Rant over. :(

Hello These things take time bugs could pop up anywhere at any time, not to mention that it makes it even more difficult with the various systems people have believe me I'm waiting for it myself too, but we gotta have more Patience. if things go well hopefully we might see it next weekend. http://forum.qwsim.com/viewtopic.php?p=17898#p17898http://forum.qwsim.com/viewtopic.php?p=17898#p17898

Thanks for the compliment.RegardsErnie.
Ernie, I understand the market strategy, but I also understand that it's easy to build up a full piece and then water it down. I think of FSX Deluxe vs. Standard. I believe, during the height of sales, there was a $20 difference in the two. All they fundamentally did was build Deluxe (and perhaps more) and then strip things out to reach the lower pricepoint. I even think of some of the "Jane's" games and how they would have a simple-mode and a deluxe mode you could grow into. For some groups, they build lite because they are incapable of going "full-on," but for QW, (and specifically you), the capability was/is there, but clearly (according to your post), the will is not. We fidelity junkies may be a minority, but I think you can fleece us to justify the "premium" version. Then, once your market realizes how much fun the fidelity junkies are having, you might win some converts over to the premium version.Honestly, FSX was built with this very premise in mind... wanna "light fires and kick tires?" then just press CTRL + E.Anyhow, I am a fan and I appreciate the time you've taken to explain your position. It's harder to see a capable shop stop short than it is to see a shop who clearly will never expand out of "lite." QW, is of course a "capable" shop. I look forward to their growth and your continued efforts.
