I had no idea how fanatical the sim community was getting about SIDs/STARs.
I think many simmers are simply clueless about how to fly their airplane unless they have a flight management computer doing it for them. For those who are confused about the whole debate: There is absolutely no requirement on Vatsim or IVAO that you must must fly an aircraft with an FMC that can handle SIDs or STARs. If you have charts and can fly them manually, fine. Otherwise just ask the controller for vectors (and maybe make a note in your flightplan comment field that you are unable to fly arrival and departure procedures).

So in your logic the real world pilots use them because they can't fly their birds? Right. Interesting thought :( Nobody blames Aerosoft for not stating the lack of functionality. They just offer you either standard or mostly no Airbus-like functions and demand a high price for their product while their marketing speaks about a nice "Airbus" offer. That's all. If a customer then asks why this high priced aircraft hasn't e. g. SIDs and STARs included, they tell you that these things are rarely used in the rw (and of course we're talking about the Airbus rw here, not GA or something). Nice policy. There's also nobody that claimed the big online networks to order everybody flying to use charts, procedures and advanced FMC options. It's about fun there and some of the pilots and controllers have fun when going as real as a PC flight simulator can be. An Airbus asking for vectors all the time? Not even close.Of course you can fly like this and no controller or other pilot will be upset about it or gets harmed. It's just your personal thing to fly a sophisticated aircraft and not use its capabilities that weren't invented to help pilots with bad flying skills but to make flying safer and more effective. There might be some folks out there that can go FMC-only but it's a big difference if you can choose to use the FMC or if you just have none with this function.Again: We're talking about the most expensive twin-variant Airbus offer out there and it may set standards for an Airbus VC's optics but lacks of all the rest.Flying online the first time is fun too and at this point, SIDs and STARs might confuse more than they help. But maturing together with the product is made impossible here, a big difference to other no low price Airbus addons around the market today.

Ah, understood, so this Aerosoft thing is for those tough guys out there, doing it on their own. Impressive. I hope you've read more than just the first sentence of my post, Sir. Might come in handy for understanding.

You should take your own advice and reread what I wrote. What you think I said and what I did say are completely different things.

And the contents of a message are judged by whom? The author? Don't think so, sorry, Sir.Sorry for jumping in on funny arguments towards a lack of functionality on this special addon. Aerosoft surely has made its deal with it and maybe we laugh about it in some months when everything is fixed and all Airbus fans moved on or stayed with it, thinking that this one is close to one.
Well, if you need any further help understanding what I wrote, feel free to contact me via pm
Didn't want to affront you. If I did: sorry about it. Might be that some people don't get your point when talking about "some simmers are simply clueless about how to fly their airplane" and I don't think that a unclear statement in forums should be discussed via PM.Hoping I could help. Your thread again.

If I wanted to fly an approach without SIDs/STARs than I would. I want to fly a complex aircraft using computers and gadgets I will never get to use in real life. For me, that's part of the entertainment.

Had a nice flight this afternoon - good climb performance, cruise at .78 to .79 and a manual landing.
