September 8, 201015 yr This time around I've learned my lesson that FSX is mostly processor driven, and was wondering what was the best current processor for FSX?
September 8, 201015 yr The intel i7, no question about it. FSX is so much more smoother, and if you are comfortable overclocking, even better. A.J. Domingo

September 8, 201015 yr The i7 980x OR i7 975. Why should he pay ~ 1000$ for a i7-980x or i7-975 @ 4 GHz if he can have a i5-760 overclocked @ 4 GHz for 210$ ? Best regards from RelaxX
September 8, 201015 yr The i7-980X and -970 are six-core CPUs, the i5-760 is a quad-core. Paul Gluck. I am getting this myself within the next few weeks to replace my E6850 @ 3.4
September 11, 201015 yr Graham,I also have an E6850 and I am considering to get the i7 processor. Yet I believe this requires a new MoBo and new RAM sticks. Isn´t that right? Thanks For the price I would go with the I7 950. I am getting this myself within the next few weeks to replace my E6850 @ 3.4 Edmundo Azevedo

Thanks Yes, you are right.. When you get the i7 processor you should buy new mobo and new ddr3 ram.. That is to say you will be building a whole new system. Uygar Best Regards

September 11, 201015 yr Commercial Member A primo FSX machine can be built cheaply these days if you don't have to have all the most expensive parts. I recommend an i7 870 on the P55 MB that you will be able to easily OC to 4.2ghz. Combine that with a factory OC 460 GPU and good grade of 1600 memory and the total bill should be around 800 $ US.Enjoyjja Jim Allen[email protected]SkyPilot Software home of FSXAssist / P3DAssist
