September 20, 201015 yr You were saying?Actually that was a bad example, as that was JFK, so the dense scenery really skewed the frames. This is a little more typical. Its the Wilco A320 sitting at a gate at Las Vegas. Mind you the Wilco is a complex aircraft, and this is only with 3Ghz E6850 4GB mem and a 9800GTX card. An I7 at 4+Ghz, a 285GTX or better card, should be able to handle both situations well.Without AI.With 191 AI aircraft. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
September 22, 201015 yr Hi all !This is a post from Tyler Young: Hi everyone!Beginning today, 21 September, we'll be posting a new round of Version 10 screenshots every Tuesday on our (new) news page, as well as on our page on Facebook. This week's photos include airports and roads modeled using the X-Plane 10 "plausible world" framework. They're pretty awesome!Enjoy! http://x-plane.com/pg_news.htmlI like these shots ! :( Georges - OpenStreetMap - Ubuntu GNU/Linux -
September 22, 201015 yr This video shows some of the new and revamped aircrafts that will be present as default planes in X-Plane 10 (B747, B52, B2, KC10, Lancair, Space Shuttle, X15):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-5-boe6QCYMarco "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
September 22, 201015 yr Hi all !This is a post from Tyler Young:http://x-plane.com/pg_news.htmlI like these shots ! :(The shots with the jetways look real good, I just hope it's not just a token teaser airport like LOWI was in X-Plane 9! I don't expect X-Plane 10 to have as many detailed airports as FSX does, with it's resources, but it would be nice to have a few places to fly too. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d

The hump is too rounded, looks closer to a 200 than a 400. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
September 22, 201015 yr http://x-plane.com/pg_news.htmlFinally some daytime screenshots. The third shot of the UA jet at the terminal shows some very low resolution grass textures, I hope these get sorted out. The shot of the trucks on the road looks pretty good(the road is higher resolution than the grass at the airport?). The shot on final looks good. The x-plane lighting engine really gets it rightI am so happy to see some WIP shots, given that this is our next sim in the pipeline.

Stunning, simply stunning.... Daniel Miller
September 23, 201015 yr Commercial Member I can't see X-Plane 10 succeeding performance-wise. In that post by Austin, it seems that the graphics are going to be extreme. How is anyone supposed to be able to run that? I can see MS Flight performing better than X-Plane 10 at the moment, and we don't even know much on it. Brandon Filer

That's like cranking up all the sliders in FSX to MAX.You're saying you can see MS Flight outperforming XP 10? And you admit you don't know much about it. Even the system specs for MS flight haven't been announced. You give unsubstantiated statements a new meaning.G
September 23, 201015 yr Hi all !More news here today about X-Plane 10:http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/xplane-news/message/1655Happy reading ! :( Georges - OpenStreetMap - Ubuntu GNU/Linux -
September 23, 201015 yr Author More news here today about X-Plane 10:http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/xplane-news/message/1655Good find! According to Austin's post XP10 has better performance than XP9 and the ability to scale up the detail based on available RAM and number of cores. The weather system sounds like a big step forward! In XP10 weather will created per METAR station and interpolated between stations but with far more detail (since procedurally generated) than anything seen in XP9 or FS9/FSX. Matthew S
September 23, 201015 yr According to Austin's post XP10 has better performance than XP9 and the ability to scale up the detail based on available RAM and number of cores. They said the same thing about FSX SP2 :)
September 24, 201015 yr Author They said the same thing about FSX SP2 :)Unfortunately for FSX it was designed/developed long before the wide spread adoption of multi-core processors. Austin/Ben are writing key bits of XP10 to take full advantage of multiple cores, for example:-1) Separate flight dynamics thread per aircraft2) ATC 3) Scenery loader4) Weather modellingAustin and Ben are more than capable of delivering a flight sim that takes full advantage of today's multi-core machines. It's a real shame ACES "bit the dust" because I think FS11 would have been something special in regards to it's multi core utilisation. September 24, 201015 yr What are you talking about... the entire Aces team has been working a support contract for Lockheed Martin. FSX has been running 16 cores for almost 2 years now. Seriously I don't know where you lot get your information but FSX has been in continuous development for the past 30 years, plain and simple. There was never a time out. You just couldn't buy it, because they stopped making a game out of it.

FSX was designed and developed before multi-core became main stream, whatever multi-core capabilities they managed to shoe-horn in SP2 was an after thought. Matthew S
