November 5, 201015 yr It has been released that vh-ojd operating sin-syd had an engine failure. Ojd is a GE non ER 747. Does this prove that the problems at QF are maintenance and not the engines themselves. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/11/05/AR2010110502646.html Dylan Leonard
November 5, 201015 yr My guess would be just an unlucky coincidence, like all the problems in 08. But I'm biased ;)
November 5, 201015 yr Commercial Member Pax from the A380 failure were on this flight too... what the heck are the chances of that, experiencing two engine failures as a pax on two consecutive days... Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
November 5, 201015 yr Does this prove that the problems at QF are maintenance and not the engines themselves. I read somewhere this morning that Qantas does not handle the maintenance on the A380 engines. The maintenance on the A380 engines has been performed by RR since delivery... Not sure how true that is. Pax from the A380 failure were on this flight too... what the heck are the chances of that, experiencing two engine failures as a pax on two consecutive days... ...and I also read in early reports that there were NO passengers that were on both flights, but that got me thinking what you said... Those people should go play the lottery tonight!Mike <---------------> Mike Murawski

The guys at Rolls-Royce engineering department must be running nuts, if you add to these failures the Trent 1000 of 787. Felipe Andrade at SBSP

November 6, 201015 yr I agree with Ryan, the chances must be astronomical indeed. So astronomical that no one have yet thought of a possible terror attack.Because I doubt the RR engines are faulty, remember that BA flight over Java in the 80s, a 747-200 G-BDXH, I recall the pictures of the engines after they had all four beenlitteraly destroyed by the volcanic ashes. Although destroyed, but the crew succeded in starting them up again a few thousands feet above the ocean. By the time, that had been a good advertising for RR.

November 6, 201015 yr Pax from the A380 failure were on this flight too... what the heck are the chances of that, experiencing two engine failures as a pax on two consecutive days... Well believe it or not Ryan I used to date a girl whose family was traveling a number of years ago as tourists and on one of their flights on the climbout the acft declared an emergency because aparently one of the cargo doors opened, and on the very next flight they had an engine failure. they didn't give up and went for a third flight, finally getting to their destination! they even received "bravery in the air" badges from the airline. I don't tell this story often because it feels so much like a shameless lie, but I hardly think this girlfriend of mine would make it all up. then again she wasn't an aviation expert and maybe didn't know exactly what the emergencies were. Anyway I never bothered checking the incident reports. but I thought that was something quite freaky and I couldn't get it out of my head the day I got on an MD-11 with them to go to London for a few days!
