Yes, she really looks a beauty.I am very interested to hear feedback about the new Crosswind crab system.

Nice. I usually wouldn't go for something like this because I won't fly it often - too hard to remember everything. I can never remember how to get the C-130 in the air on the rare occasions I want to fly a military aircraft. Hoewver, it looks like it is light on the systems so its a possibility.I wonder if they are going to have another Christmas sale.

Has anyone ordered the new B-52 yet, the price is 24.99 euros thats cheaper than I thought it would be.

I'm waiting for a Christmas sale before I send any money to Captain Sim.

I bought it and it's well worth the money. The VC is awesome and includes the entire upper deck.Doesn't have a 2d panel. That's good!It seems to be a lighter version with only the "necessary to fly"functions modeled. But there's still plenty of switches to flipand buttons to push. Learning curve is moderate.Frame rate hit is about the same as the default aircraft, maybe justa little more. Far less than the CS C-130 FPS hit. It's another great Captain Sim quality aircraft and well worth every penny.

Guys,In order to centralize the information about the CS B52 release I have merged this thread with another one posted today.Thx!

There's absolutely no question about it. If only it had dropping bombs, that would have been nice, but by then, that would have cost us more framerates than ever! Still waiting on the progresses of the 737-100 though, fingers are tightly crossed by now. Dave.

Dave, they've just announced it, so don't raise expectations too soon. :( This won't go like the other 737 in the making of course but how about some nice surprise if they report about progress instead of constantly waiting for it?I'm still trying to fly and operate the "light" B-52 in the meantime and must say that it's far more than light (without being heavy). I double the statement about the framerates, they are great. The graphics are highres, the gauges offer some custom setup and not just a doubled one from other birds (sure, ADI and HSI will look somehow familiar).Although you have 8 engines there, you can map only 4 throttles so far, so they go in pairs. The manual speaks of a FSX limitation there, sounds ok to me. The grab system works but I'm completely unfamiliar with such features and have to test the actual flying with it. Nice little detail though. One downside which some of us wouldn't discover until somebody told them: You don't see your wings when looking from the VC. I can see the lights on the wings if I turn my head (trackir user) quite far but no wing surface there. CS states some FSX poly limits for this and as you have to turn that head very far and well beyond the normal range compared to other birds where you would discover the missing wings just after a few seconds, I'm ok here. From the outside, the wingflex looks amazing. Even the spoilers cause reactions here.As the graphics are impressive and stuff like sounds, tooltips, clicksounds and fluent gauge reaction are very good (except for the gear up/down sound, this is too standard for me), this one offers some fun at a very nice price point in my eyes. Far more than a "fun product" so far, quite some details to explore. I'd say that she's a bit too powerful from the first flights, but I may be wrong on this. She could use some AP popup in my eyes. This plane (like most newer CS ones) is VC only, but I always liked some one or two useful popups to operate such birds (maybe an item for 1.1.). Definitely no need for a complete 2D cockpit though. If you like to take a view into the actual detail before buying, go for the manual2 from here http://captainsim.co...20/manuals.html.

My first impression after a few quick flights last night and NO I have not read the manual yet.I am at that stage of seeing lots and lots of gauges, buttons, switches, knobs and have not a clue what they do.Full power, rotated and began a steep climbout. While looking down and having my Trackir give me a fit, I glanced up to make sure I was not about to stall. Instead I was breaking through 15 or 20 thousand feet doing over 500 knots! Even with the power pulled back the plane cruises at 350 - 400k.I am currently struggling with the auto pilot. It reminds me of the 727,C-130 types which require more efffort than seems needed. My Trackir is sticking and the view you need to see the ap controls are down, over and zoom which is tough. There is a autoplot type trim thingie which are suposed to rotate to change your heading with the ap on. Problem is its sticks on me like the heading bug and runs away from me. By the time I get it to stop I am hopelessly off course. I added a gps.My performance is not bad but not a great as everyone else is claiming.Over all it looks good but unless you are really into the B-52 or heavy bombers its a one trick pony. Handles like a battleship but accelerates like a fighter.

I agree on the climb and cruise performance. I have to look up which thrust values were used there and compare them to any real values. The aircraft.cfg says static_thrust = 30000 //Lbs, max rated static thrust at Sea Level, we are using eight optical but only four FSX engines, so my amateurish mind speaks of 4x 30,000 then.I think they somehow simulate (remember? Fun product) the Pratt & Whitney TF33-P-3/103 which should give us 8x 75.6 kN = 604.8 kN. So if I take those 120,000 Lbs , divided by 2.2 and multiplied with g, I end up on 535,100 N = 535.1kN. So from the actual thrust values, we are underpowered here if those engines where the basis. If FSX really takes this thrust value x8, we are a rocket though. I'm no expert on this, sorry, but I see only four engines are defined in the aircraft.cfg, so 4x should be correct.Maybe you guys can tell me if this (picture) is a CS joke (a good one then) or a somehow real plate on the yoke there.peacedb.th.jpgUploaded with ImageShack.usBy the way, you are lost in this plane if you don't have EZCA in my eyes. So I really recommend this fine addon, just be aware.
