December 12, 201015 yr So at work today we boarded an A319, and I've never seen a screen so dirty, no crew bothered to wash it I guess, it had fly splatters all over it, needless to say, we didn't bother either.Any chance of having this on the NGX? rather than just having a clean screen all the time?? Cheers.Got a photo if anyone's that interested...:( Rgds - Sam Harridann
December 12, 201015 yr That's just lazy, get yourself out that window and give it a good wipe. :( Sam Crawford "Don't judge the intelligence of an individual by the number of posts that they have made. Wait until they say something stupid first." CTC Cadet - www.ctcwings.co.uk
December 12, 201015 yr Author Too cold! I went as far as throwing a cup of my own water out the window and using the wipers; this made it worse Rgds - Sam Harridann
December 12, 201015 yr Ah, flies. The bane of aircraft. You never even see them; they just appear all over the window and airfoils.I've had to of killed no less than 10,000 flies by now. :( Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.
December 12, 201015 yr I'll never forget the bug I smashed at 14,500. I heard the spat, and looked at it a second before my brain realized how unusual that was LOL. Dan Downs KCRP
December 12, 201015 yr Can't get away with that on gliders, I always wash the thing and give it a dry off; any stuff on the wings or fuselage, even the water you just used to wash the thing, is a lift killer when you have no engine, and when flying about with other stuff nearby, I don't want to mistake some numbnuts flying the wrong way for a splattered bug on my canopy LOL.As far as FSX goes, there's nothing stopping anyone altering a window glass texture to depict bug splatters, but I guess more people would dislike it than like it.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

December 12, 201015 yr Author For when "As real as it gets" becomes too real. :(Haha, next we'll be simulating waking up at 3am to drive around a modelled M25 in the rain to find out you've rocked up for work an hour early when you swipe in!!....Sigh... Rgds - Sam Harridann

December 12, 201015 yr I guess it can be done, and it could be subtle. The new Airbus add-on has a good windscreen which look even better with the 3D Lights add-on, that illuminates the cockpit creating a halo affect around the edges when the landing lights are on. Uuummm. Chris Farrell
December 12, 201015 yr You know, if PMDG did model "bug strikes" they would probably do an in-depth research and even hire a renowned entomologist to come up with a formula that faithfully simulates the splat pattern on the windscreen in different atmospheric conditions and speeds or something crazy like that. December 15, 201015 yr The good old Do-27 simulates Flys and Bugs on the windows... how longer you fly relatively near to the ground, the more dirt will get on the windows.Of course you can clean it up.The Do27 is probably the moste underestimated Addon for FS.It is really deep simulated. Only disadvantage is, that it is huge on frames. But if you have a fast FSX maschine there would be no problems nowadays...
