December 22, 201015 yr Hey Tabs, I'm just a bit curious here, but I'm wondering why pretty much every flightsim developer refuses to tolerate people saying bad things about their competitors, it's a bit odd.Any sensible and reputable business has respect for its competitors. If you went into a reputable company to sell a product and you started knocking your competition you'd be shown the door. You're expected to sell your product on its positive benefits not make negative points about the others.Iain Smith

December 22, 201015 yr Commercial Member Hey Tabs, I'm just a bit curious here, but I'm wondering why pretty much every flightsim developer refuses to tolerate people saying bad things about their competitors, it's a bit odd.1. We know a lot of our competitors personally. This isn't exactly a cutthroat business we're in here... There's basically a handful of people in the world making high end FS airliner addons. A great example is the Level D team - we've actually sat and had beers with those guys.2. It's just not good etiquette - we want our forum to be a positive community for learning and discussion, not a venue for "flame wars" and other sniping between developers.3. We don't need to - our products stand for themselves. Everyone knows PMDG represents an extremely high quality product at this point. The exception here is when someone goes and says something false or misleading about our products - I will always defend us against that and have in the past.I have criticized certain products in the past on my own outside of the PMDG forum - as a full price customer I felt I had the same right as everyone else to complain when I was particularly put off with something, but that's my own opinion, not PMDGs and I'd never do that here on our forum. December 24, 201015 yr Tamadeez - LoLFor us older folks that started on FS3, I'm still thankful for retractable landing gear.I have zero complaints about the payware out there. Every major developer has a forum and gives us a place to ask questions before we lay the MasterCard down. When I was a kid I used to draw a cockpit on construction paper and pretend to fly. This stuff is a dream come true. Did they happen to talk about there 757 release date in their druken state? No, but I do recall Daryl going on and on about how he wished he was working for PMDG instead of of those, how did he put it, "those lame hacks over there at LevelD". Shortly after that, he fell under the table and started muttering something about wishing he really was Jennifer Beals' therapist, not just acting one on TV. I left the room when he started sobbing and throwing his shoes at Lou Betti. Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
December 26, 201015 yr FT was too lazy to simulate a single failure. The ERJ is good enough to use, but just good enough. Once the NGX comes out, it's the last time I use it.Admittedly, the ERJ isn't awful. It just lacks failure simulation, which is irritating because it makes the whole thing seem artificial. The 737PIC was no disaster, but are mere portovers from FS9, which is no wonder why these people are just far too lazy to add XML codes and stuff, to surpass some of the limits MSFS prevented us from simulating such issues, unlike the ways most developers would do.
