How the heck did this thing get into my install and how do I get rid of it?!

I'm sorry I feel like a dufus, but I don't recall how this thing became part of my FSX installation and I want to get rid of it asap! It is not showing up as a program to be uninstalled. It apparently came from FSDreamTeam, and I must have installed it of course, but really don't want it any longer. Help! Thanks in advance!Noel

Hi Noel,In the FSX directory you will find two files : exe.xml and dll.xml. They contain the programs that are launched automatically by FSX.Open these files with the notepad. When you found your unwanted program, find the line <Disabled>False</Disabled>. Just change it in <Disabled>True.</Disabled>RegardsPatrick

You better leave this program where it is. This is indeed from fsdreamteam. You need it to activate sceneries and possibly reinstall. I do not know if you delete this, the sceneries still work! If you still want to delete it, you can delete it in the contral panel / programs / uninstall a program / Virtuali Addon ManagerX

Thank you both. Actually, I really want to get rid of FSDreamTeam's sceneries which I must have installed as a trial. But I swear I see no way to delete them! Not in any folder, file, control panel add/rem programs, it's a total mystery! I happened to try to take off from PHLI and up pops the "You are starting your trial today . . ." I guess I installed this thinking it was just a trial which it is, but I really don't want it. But again, no where can I find a way to uninstall it! Not even referenced in REGEDIT--no FSDreamTeam, no Hawaii add on, no nuttin'! Really weird!

There should be a program called uninst00x.exe (the x being a number. Depending on the number of FSDT sceneries installed it will be higher and higher) in the main directory of FSX. The program will bear the FSDT logo, too.

Yes I see it there thank you very much Ben. I also see it was installed 12.20.2010, so was recent. Any product that installs without a clear cut path to uninstall leaves me not generally supportive, so yes I will be losing it now. Thanks All!

Happily, it's gone now. Unfortunately there never was a Virtuali Addon ManagerX to remove, nor was there a FSDT logo anywhere associated w/ anything. As I ran uninst00x.exe the routine asked if I wanted to remove Quality Wings 757 and also FSUIPC, which I of course declined. I really dislike trials or any software that embeds itself without a clear uninstall routine. Happy to be rid of it and won't be looking into FSDT anytime soon, regardless of their reputation.

Correction: removing it destroyed the QW757 installation. I guess this went in when I installed this airplane, with no notification that I ever saw, I guess.

Yep you need this to run the quality wings 757 so its not only for fsdreamteam scenery's. there is nothing wrong with leaving this add-on in fsx it wont effect anything and its not spyware. the add-on manger has some sliders that can help you tweak fsx besides using it to run there scenery or other products they support.

Thanks, this explains it. I notice there is a slew of scenery showing in the Addon Manager that I really don't recall installing, which is why I have puzzled over this. What got my attn was a flight plan out of PHLI, at which point I noticed some hangs/pauses which I had NEVER had prior, and this was concomitant w/ the pop up telling me my "trial period had started" or what have you. Tell me, was this installed along w/ QW757 as well of course as the Addon Manager itself? If so, that's it for me with FSDT AND QW. No way I want stuff installed w/o my express consent. If my memory has failed me and I some way installed FSDT trial scenery and wasn't paying attn, then the onus is on me. Which was it? Thanks for your insights Silver

Noel, the scenery list you see is the list of their products, those of Cloud9, and as you mention Quality Wings. I am afraid you need it to keep your 757 active. It is their way of confirming you as the owner. The way it works is simple, you buy a new airport, or aircraft in your case, and you activate it through the pop down menu you see that contains the list. Once it verifies the serial code, it registers the full scenery instead of the trial version. You get something similar (somewhat) when you have say Lvl-D 767, or the PMDG MD-11 (difference being the latter two are used for aircraft options).I am afraid I have no idea in regards to how your trial at PHNL was activated, and the only solution to that would be to go to their site and ask. I for one have never had an trial period, but it is possible that you may have activated it by mistake.Good Luck.

Noel, somewhere along the line you would have had to OK the module to run when FSX boots. You probably OK'ed it when you installed the QW767.Like Cesar said, there is nothing wrong with Addon Manager and its not spyware or sometype of tracking software to see what your doing. As well, I wouldn't let it put you off from FSDT's airports as they are not only some of the best looking airports available for FSX, but also some of the best performing as well, unless of course your not a user of addon airports. If you were considering getting Flightbeams KSFO, don't do it because they are going to be using Addon Manager as the purchasing module for security reasons. How you got the trail pop up for PHNL is beyond me since I have flown to airports that they cover prior to installing the demos and have never had that happen.

Sure, I must have, having become cavalier about clicking the OK it's ok to run prompt on new installations. I am not an airport add on purchaser nor am interested in Flightbeams, and quite frankly I had already decided to avoid using QW757 due to how the windscreen makes the beautiful textures created by FEX & REX2 null an void by simulating a non-clean windscreen, which while it may be realistic unfortunately overrides graphic splendor, which I value more than a hazy windscreen!Anyway, this explains it all. It would have been helpful for me to see this explained during the installation of QW757, but that wasn't so. If Addon Mgr is required for future PMDG releases, then I'll definitely have to keep it. But I am very uninterested about the FSDT sceneries, and at this point I don't see how to end them. EVERY single one of them says "In Trial Mode" and I can say with certainty I did not intend these trial installations. Here's another annoyance w/ this: I see no where in the Vituali interface to remove any of these sceneries, deactivate them or what have you. Sure, you can buy them there, reinstall them there, but not deactivate/remove them there. It's not on add/remove programs in Windows either. As I mentioned, the popup happened and I have no idea why, and I ask you, how can I get rid of this now, without destroying the QW's installation? I don't want to run the trial! I registered last evening to have access to FSDT, however they have not yet activated my acct.

I think you're confusing things too much. Just because the scenery shows "as available" to activate through the Addon Manager does not mean they are sitting on your HD. I get the same display as you, but know that I have only downloaded and purchased FSDT's two Hawaii based products. I've also never downloaded or installed the QW airplane, but it is shown "as available" to be activated should I ever do that. It'll never happen, because I haven't a clue how to fly the thing, but that's besides the point.

Well, maybe, but as I mentioned, a pop up came up when I loaded a flight plan w/ a departure from PHLI, saying my trial period had started. Sounds like it's on my hard drive to me!
