My Planes pieces are scrambled...any ideas?

Featured Replies

I am trying to keep from doing a delete and reinstall of FSX....but this is really strange. If I can get a pictured inserted here....you can see that my aircraft are scrambled. Has anyone seen this before? scrambled_plane.jpg

Be sure advanced animations is checked.Do you have any shader mods or bufferpool edits?

I used to get that every once in a while using the LDS 767 as well as getting the scrambled text in the upper right hand corner like is shown in your screen shot.In my case I was able to prevent it from happening by adding HIGHMEMFIX=1 in [GRAPHICS] section of the FSX.cfg.Although my water and sky never looked like that when I would get the messed up plane graphics.

I double Ryan's thought on the shaders. You can lookup the SHADER_CACHE_VERSION= line under [GRAPHICS] and alter the numbers there (to any numbers you like, doesn't matter, take the current ones +1 or so). This forces the shaders to be recompiled and may help on your scrambled planes.Doesn't come with a downside but just in case, backup your fsx.cfg before editing.

I had that problem with a different aircraft, it turned out that I did not have the FSX service pack 2 installed.

Thanks a bunch guys for the ideas. I have rebuilt my fsx.cfg file and that didn't help. Someone else mentioned reinstalling Acceleration Pack..so I uninstalled it and now it won't let me reinstall....so I think I am kinda hosed. I see a Uninstall and Reinstall coming up.

The only time I have seen that was if I had a bufferpool setting too high.

I thought Highmemfix was only for VISTA or WIN7? Interesting though that it fixed it for you.

If you are using *******' Shader 3 Mod, then you must add the following line to the Graphics section of the FSX.CFG file/ALLOW_SHADER_30=1Then rebuild the Shaders.

Thanks

I am still fighting this problem. I have rebuilt my fsx.cfg and installed my original dll.xml and still get the same thing. I even tried uninstalling FSX and reinstalling and it looked good until I installed Acceleration Pack...then it went to crap. I can't imagine it is my graphics card.....FS9 looks fine. My next step is a new hard drive and reinstall operating system and totally start from scratch....unless someone has some thoughts.

Randy - you are not reading the responses others have posted here. CoolP, Ryan and Tom have pointed the way. I will tell you explicitly. You need to ADD THIS LINE TO THE [GRAPHICS] SECTION OF YOUR fsx.cfg file[GRAPHICS]SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=24That's all you need to do. Choose any number under the sun. As CoolP says - it will force FSX to rebuild the Shader cache files which are in you home folder.PS: It has nothing to do with the HIMEMFIX mod. All that does is prevent large-scale white flashing.

Thanks for getting specific. I just tried it and it worked.....thank you very much. I am sorry guys....I did not understand what you were talking about when you mentioned the shaders and rebuilding the shaders. I have no idea what shaders are....except when you pull them down to keep the sun out. Thanks again.

I've never read anything about HIGHMEMFIX=1 preventing large-scale white flashing, in fact even using the HIGHMEM fix tweak I still get the white flash when using ASA and the weather updates. The reason I mentioned it originally was because I had been having the same issue with the plane turning into a mess and the menu text becoming blurred in the same fashion as the OP's. Then in this thread http://forum.avsim.net/topic/280688-graphics-corruption-in-fsx-update-possible-solution-found/ it was suggested to try the HIGHMEMFIX=1 solution as noted by Ryan at PMDG in the quote below, and once I applied that line I have never had it happen since.
Add HIGHMEMFIX=1 to your fsx.cfg [GRAPHICS] section - that's the fix for disappearing plane stuff.

I reckon you're right, cmpbellsjc, but I've seen a number of posts such as the two below, plus my own experiences when I was using the ATI5870 card. It did stop the flashing - however - in hindsight - that 'flashing' may have been buildings disappearing, resulting in a white 'flash' where the building should be.'ziffel'I put in this line as suggested, and just flew my first session ever (in DX9) without texture flashing. I was having textures disappear and flash white. I don't know if I just got lucky, but I've never flown 30 minutes before without at least some flashing, until now. So fingers crossed. Thanks for the heads up. 'Fr. Bill'Well, this old fox is truly gobsmocked! I've made the requisite fsx.cfg file changes, forced a shader recompile, and watched in amazement as my average fps increased ~+10, and I now have no ground texture flashing around my WIP 33MO-Leaming Field scenery...Anyway - we're all happy now! :(

Make sure there is a texture.cfg file in the particular texture folder of the aircraft you are using.

Hey, that entry to force shaders to recompile - does everyone need to do that or only those that used those mods?I've never used any mods, would this benefit me?
