Yes, But even essentials are skyrocketing in a very short amount of time, where im from anyways.personaly i do alright myself, but im paid a little more than minimum wage, look at retail store workers( My mother being one of them), or coffee shop servers(tim hortons where im from, now Thats a good cup of java :( ) making minimum wage, almost seems impossible to survive on that, But we might as well take away all leisure from them too while were at it.

Yep....greed.
Jim- are you referring to Users or Providers? The world has been living extra cheaply off the fibre glut from the Dot Com boom of a dozen years ago. Now the true cost of internet service is starting to appear as facilities get maxed out.I would expect we will see many changes to what we have come to expect as "normal" costs.Wonder how long outsourcing the reading of XRays to India will continue, as pricing of facilities starts to really reflect cost?AR

YES!in the US executives make over 350-times the average worker's wage. these guys (most are guys) take home more in one (1) day then you make in a year. this doesn't include executive 'perks'. executive pay rates have continued to increase during the past two year US (and world) recession, while the middle and lower class has seen a pay cut. for the past 30 years the US 'middle class' has seen an adjusted decrease in pay (this does not take into account housing or medical expenses).--

yep ... the middle and lower class lost any ability to have a fair standard of living when they turned their back on unions beginning in the early 1980s.last year, about two months before i told my boss to put things where the sun don't shine and walked out the door, i recieved a $160 'bonus check' for the last fiscal year. i saw my staff cut by 30% (by 50% v. two year previous) while ast the same time customer traffic increased, company made record profits, and saw a 10% increase in sales ... yes, during the largest/greatest recession in the past 80 years.--

AR,Greed from the Internet user. Unlimited this, unlimited that, but don't you dare raise my rates or I'll be bloody mad and threaten to take my unlimited business somewhere else. And gosh forbid someone put a limit on something! And pay for something as I use it? Hecky no! The Al Gore Internet is FREE. Who cares that it costs bucco bucks to deliver it to my computer, laptop, Ipad, Kindle, phone, GPS unit, car, boat, and TV. Every fast food joint, every coffee shop, every school, every library, every public building, everywhere I go, I need that fix, so they better have it, faster and faster, 24/7, 365 days a year all for a price that "I" think is fair!Anyone remember Prodigy? I do because that was our first Internet provider. Way back, after Al G. rolled out his grand technology, they actually had a MONTHLY LIMIT on your Internet time. Wow, what a country! People actually needed to check their account to see if they were getting close to their monthly limit. And guess what happened if you went over your time limit? No, they did not cut off your Internet access. They actually had the NERVE to CHARGE you for your extra time. Holy crap, now there's an idea: give people a LIMIT and if they need/choose/have to go over that limit, add that to their monthly bill. Yes, we still checked e-mail, yes we still downloaded things. In fact we even visited FS forums, read stuff and posted! But all the time that clock was ticking and boy the last week of the month was spent checking your account over and over again. And many a Misses would have a fit when that next bill came and there were extra charges on it.But then came along AOL and their grand plan to offer unlimited Internet access for a fixed low monthly rate. Their installation disks (not CDs BTW at first) were EVERYWHERE. Mail, magazines, cereal boxes, end caps at stores, inside computer books, people handing them out at stores, everywhere you turned, there they were. So people became hooked. The heck with limits, they said, we want unlimited access, no extra fees, and all for a low price and AOL seemed to deliver on that.So the user greed began and we are where we are today. Many parts of the civilized world doesn't even have any type of access, my school where I work, in a MAJOR metropolitan area, has CRAP for technology, and boo hoo there may be actual LIMITS placed on people. Cry me a river, build me a bridge and get over it!

This is wrong, very wrong and I hope this movement in Canada fails. The first victim would be the electronic commerce in the first world (not just FS add-ons); third-world countries have not that much electronic commerce, the impact will be a little bit lower. I've never used those mobile broadband plans, here in Colombia they give 2-3 GB/month and they dare to call this a "Fair" use policy...I hope the ISPs here don't go this way :( Meanwhile, I'll spread the word. And yes, I also signed.Best regards from Colombia,Luis MiguelPS: Does anybody else think this should be in Hangar Chat?

----------------Yes.Perhaps the moderators might transfer this thread. A very significant topic for Flight Simmers.AR

i have to say that this is just a movement and will probably die off. besides that just crazy to overcharge internet while purchasing an FS related software or any software for that matter. but the question is: why have users pay more?

KarimOumgharSignature.png

See AR?OMG, pay for usage? No way! We pay for the water, gas, electricity, and food we consume, but our unlimited Internet access is a god given right, bestowed on every person at birth. "How dare they want to charge for my bandwidth." "Those crooks, what do they want my money for, they make billions a year as it is?" You ever figure how much it actually costs to do all that? And what the heck does Flight or Live have anything to do with this. Flight and or Live may use No, No, No Internet. Right now Live does NOT require the Internet and we have No idea about the requirements for Flight. Why pay more? Because you are using more. If you have a limit, then you live within that limit. Learn to wait until next month, learn to prioritize, learn to budget, learn to just say no, learn how to download a file and then actually log off the Internet and use that file instead of being constantly connected. You'll survive and so will software companies.

Well show me a poor person that creates job and gives a decent paycheck and maybe I'd agree with your statement. I work for a multi-billonaire, privately owned company and if she continues to give me a paycheck every two weeks I'm happy; as long as she is fat and rich I don't care; I have a job.Sean

and what if she came to yoh and said that she has to decrease your pay by 3 dollars an hour even though the company is still making profits!!!And dont say you wouldnt care as anyone in their right mind would.Jskorna, your talking like we are receiving a free service as it is, but last time i cbecked i kept receiving these so called bills from my isp, could that be!!!!p.s. im almoat certain that they are making huge peofits even with an unlimited service
