Is LVLD-767 still "king of the hill"

Featured Replies

Been reading about the iFly 737NG and was wondering if it has replaced the LVLD 767 as the top airliner for FS2004? I have been flying the LVLD 767 for years and dont see how any other aircraft could be more realistic. Your opinion please. Thanks jerrycwo4

I think the LVL-D 767 lost that title a long time ago...

I have the IFLY 737NG as well as the LVLD767.The IFLY 737 is very good but in my opinion the LVLD 767 is now legendary. It's still the easiest to fly but because of that attribute doesn't get the amount of usage by me that it deserves really. :( The 737NG took a while to reach the top and is now probably nice to fly even though I haven't flown it for a week now. FS9 is still my favourite sim and the Level-D will be flown as long as I have it. I liked it so much I bought the FSX version as well so yes, the 767-300 is still top of the hill for me. Good thread :Applause:Quite literally, the most interesting one to fly is the one shown in my avatar. The amazing VC-10 by Addictive Simulations.

Hi DaveJust curious - I have never seen a review of this product and wasn't entirely sure whether it was worth looking at. Why do you rate it so highly? It was always such an elegant aircraft and I might be interested in buying it if I think I will get my money's worthIanBTW, the LevelD has never been exceeded IMHO in terms of the total package. It has it all - great handling, immersive VC, realistic systems, great frame rates, extensive but readable documentation, realistic and extensive failure options etc. If I could just figure out how to integrate the RXP WX radar into it it would be perfect! :(

For the 767 yes it is still king of the hill per se.

The grafics are a bit outdated on some points, but system wise it´s top notch.

Best regards, Steffen

the 67 is an amazing aircraft, i could say its the best imho, however i am building a home pit based on the ifly, already have a working overhead and still adding, i fell that the 737 is more versatile for me, and honestly the systems on the ifly are unbeleivable, you cant really go wrong with either.

I still love the LDS767 as much as I did when I first got it. To me, the LDS767 is still at the top. I tried the CS767, but I just don't like it. I won't say the LDS767 is the top, since in the meantime there were some pretty great aircraft being released. However, the LDS767 has something about it that I have rarely found in other aircraft. It "feels" good. It ahs always flown lovely, and it still does. Even though the textures aren't the best in the world and the modeling is outdated around the VC, it still is and will probably always remain in my top 5 of aircraft, together with the also old but really fun Leonardo Maddog.

Having been in a 767 cockpit during ops including t/o and land I am confident in saying the Level D is the best thing I have seen on Flight Simulator. I have had FS since FS95.Saying that I haven't tried the Ifly. But the Level D has got it right so much that there is little room now to make it 'perfect'.Daniel

It's hard to describe the LDS763, but someone in another thread on this page said it best - it FEELS right. And I don't mean just fde - it's the whole package. There are other excellent, immersive airliners with better looking, more functional (in terms of fs interaction) VCs, like the new iFly 73x series, but LDS has never been eclipsed in the ways that truly matter. And let me say thanks to LDS for the new winglet package.Having said that, I'm not sure I have a 'king of the hill' per se, I see several devs as being at the top - LDS is still firmly among them. That's incredible for such an older product.

Regards,

Mark

That would have been me wink.gifI have long tried to think why this aircraft is so good. Is it because of the FDE? I don't know, I'm not sure how it should fly in real life. Is it systems? They are good, but there are others out there that are just as good. Visuals then? Many aircraft have surpassed it in almost every respect. So is it sounds? No, not at all... Still, even though the various parts of the package do not stand out in themselves, they combine to make one of the best aircraft I know. Why it is so good, I really don't know. I only know that it feels good to fly. It feels convincing, and it feels like you're flying the plane. That's only thing I know about it: It's a damn fun plane to fly and every time again that I take that nosewheel off the ground I feel it: this thing is extraordinary ina way that I think might not happen so soon again in the FS world. No aircraft beside the Leonardo Maddog has gotten close to the great feeling I get when I fly the LDS767.

I think that the Level-d 767 stands at the top.The reason for that is for sure a combination of things, as highlighted by Benjamin. But the top reason is probably its stability and reliability. You know it will behave the way you make it behave. No CTD, no stutters or low fps, no wrong A/P behaviour, etc...I don't agree when people say the model is old. It still looks very very good, especially the exterior model with the bending wings. And it keeps improving with the recently wingletted version.A lot of simmers mention the LeonardoSH maddog as one standing close to the top as well. I agree. But if you compare the visual aspect only, the level-d is (IMHO) better than the maddog...For me, (one of ) the only drawback of the level-d is the "difficulty" in flying the approaches. I mean it is somehow hard to slow it down (as per the real bird AFAIK), and when you fly with Radar Contact which sometimes leaves you very little time and distance to slow down for your approach, that can become tricky.Just my opinion.Ghiom

Yes, the pilots quite often resort to speed brakes on descent. Recently on a 767 into Sydney on a short haul flight, we were light. I think the 767 is a little slippery (less drag). And the pilot told me as the main wheels hang forward unlike the T7, it makes landing tricky. I wish I could visit the jumpseat as I would definitely ask the pilots their opinions on this. Maybe a 767 real life pilot can share here.Daniel

PIC763 and its follow up LDS763 were gamechangers. Since then, we got a great winglet update and all is well. However, iFly, maddog, and PMDG744/MD11 have all surpassed the LDS for VC quality. Ageless classic, but shows its age for sure.
