Good morning everybody,I plan to buy PFE but before buying i'd like to know how to install it. Do i only have to execute the program and it installs over the FSX ATC and that's it? Also if i don't like it and i want to uninstall it how can i get back to the FSX ATC program. Do i have to reinstall FSX? Many thanks and sorry for my bad english.

I really like PFE. Make sure you download all the additional goodies as there are quite a few realistic (ish) sounding voices. IMO this is one of the better offline options out there.Chris Farrell

As we are talking about PFE, I have a question: What's the best ATC program: PFE or Radar Contact? I take FS serioully so I'd like one that gives me the best experience in ATC. Any thoughts?

I have never tried PFE wish they had a demo. My biggest beef with rc4 is no taxi instructions, I also have problems such getting the ATIS on arrival and it tells me for example runway 23 is in use, then I contact approach and he tells me runway 5 is in use so then I have to replan everything, then when Im landing all my AI are using 23 anyways, its frustrating as hell. I have done all the reading and have applied all the tricks, mind you it does not happen all the time but its very inconsistent. I would like to know how PFE handles things, I see that it does have taxi instructions, do the AI follow these instructions aswell? so Im not have collisions on the taxiways. Does the ATIS give all the runways in use? RC4 only gives one for some reason, what I mean is if the ai are using for example RW 23 and 24R the ATIS will actually read landing and departing RW 23 and RW 24R, does it work across a network with widefs or simconnect? Can I import flightplans from a program such as flightsim commander? I see some clips on youtube maby someone could make a more up to date one showing ATIS instructions and how it handles taxi instructions with AI present. The sid and star creator looks cool but how complicated is it? Alot of questions I know, but I really don't want to spend anymore $$$ on ATC

PFE certainly has the best natural voices and taxying instructions. There maybe a few other things in the pipeline such as you giving alternates in your flight plan which in turn may be offered by ATC if you have to make a Mayday call.As for the runway changes that really is a problem that is originated by the AI. The sim seems to move the landing rwy about if there is a light crosswind at more or less 90deg. Both PFE and RC4 suffer this and I don't think it could be resolved since it originates in the sim.PFE takes getting used to, (as does RC4) BUT read and re-read the manuel and soon it all clicks into place.vololiberista

In PFE Forum I found a page containing all the update history of PFE, from the initial release of it's first edition to the latest update of version 2.After reading this thread here in AVSim created by a guy who had the same doubt I'm having (or was having), I made my decision. PFE seems to be better than RC because of its not-so-robotic voices and other features that RC don't have.

Thanks for the update history, the more I read I get the feeling that the developer has put alot of effort into this, constantly trying to make it better.

From when I first heard about PFE last week, it seems to keep popping up. It looks like a good program for those of us who can't be bothered useing online ATC. And the regionalized voices looks like a great feature. No more fs default American accent everywhere.Does anyone know how good it is for departure and approach vectoring. For example if I have a Sid/star in th fplan will it follow those, or does it vector you all over the sky like default ATC?

Also, does PFE handle VFR flights?

I think it does. I just checked a older version of the manual I found at Aerosoft and there are some descriptions of VFR flight planning other stuff. In that thread I was talking about yesterday a guy asked the same thing and someone who apparently has PFE said the "you can file VFR flight plans in PFE and have the applicable communication with ATC".

You certainly can build in your own SID's and STAR's to your flightplan. The only problem I have sometimes is that ATC will give me an altitude that is too low. For example arriving at BIG for London Heathrow the minimum altitude is FL70 but the ATC always asks me to desend to 4,500ft. This is apparently a quirk from the old PF2000 programme for which at this moment they haven't found a workaround. I just ignore it and fly the initial approach procedure without radar control following the correct speeds and heights which PFE allows me to do. With version 2.14 great advances were made and a large number of previous problems were resolved so in time I'm certain that others will also.vololiberista

Talking about SID and STARs, I found a great tutorial of these pocedures. It's great for simviators that are not familiar with them. Everything is explained. It's a 4-part tutorial expalining SID, STAR and IAP. Here is the

.The same person also made a tutorial splited in 9 parts of how to use PMDG 737NG FMS. Even though that is the 737, it'll give you enough knowledge to deal with other FMS. Here is the
.Enjoy!

I think it's all a matter of compromising. It really depends.PFE has better voices but then it has a problem with altitudes (I used to come in either way too high or too low on approach ).Radar contact is good, has no prob with altitudes so to say but has probably the worst voices ever.Vic
