March 8, 201115 yr Thanks for Alaska Wing Men mention...Great show!!! Still love my Twetos, but for scenery and pure planage Alaska Wing men delivers. Haven't looked at Air Canada yet, eems more like a travel channel show from the website,:)) Yeah the Canada stuff is lot of dvds, you can enjoy the flying and in the same time you can see CANADA nicest places, interesting people.Search on youtube oyu can see few short episodes
March 8, 201115 yr The repeat stuff needs to go. Who's producing this? Discovery? They can ruin some good subject with that editing fail. Big time irritation factor. Bet ya someone can take season 1 and edit up something usefull. I still watch, of course, but someone needs to remove that hollywood style editing and manufactured drama. Same with Ice pilots, gold rush Alaska, Deadliest catch, Swards, American Loggers, Swamp loggers....................
March 8, 201115 yr I don't know why everyone is fussing about the editing. If they didn't do this then we would have no show because the general public would not be interested in it. Chris Miller
March 8, 201115 yr And I'm glad there is a show at all. But, since it is here now, and criticism should lead to improvement, it was only right for me to mention the B- editing and production of the show. I think more of a focus on a pilot demographic would allow for a more technical show. They have in a few episodes mentioned just how hard it is to be a bush pilot in Alaska, but they don't really tell you why, and I sure haven't seen any video of just what is so dangerous about it. OK, I get it, Unalakleet has bad weather, and wind. They haven't even mentioned water skiing on tundra tires. Actually, I think they briefly showed Jim doing it once.
March 9, 201115 yr And I'm glad there is a show at all. But, since it is here now, and criticism should lead to improvement, it was only right for me to mention the B- editing and production of the show. I think more of a focus on a pilot demographic would allow for a more technical show...And lose the rest of the demographics in the process, I don't think the show can survive that way. This really nothing more than a typical reality TV show that focuses on an family involved aviation business.IMO focusing on more technical details is the quickest way to make this show history.Regards.Ernie.
March 9, 201115 yr I have to agree. I think it's safe to assume the overwhelming majority of viewers are not pilots or serious aviation enthusiast's. You start throwing a lot of technical jargon at them and they could lose a large segment of their watchers. I accept it for what it is, an entertainment reality show made for a general audience. If the current format means it will be back for a second season, I'm happy.John
March 9, 201115 yr Yea, both of you guys are right I'm afraid. Shifting the focus more to the pilots and tossing in a bunch of acronyms used by the FAA is the fast track to getting cancelled, unfortunately. But, I can still hope. Also a good point: I'd rather have the show as it is and be guaranteed a second season, than rework the editing and possibly destroy it all together.
March 10, 201115 yr yeah, at least we get to see some flying and airplanes... that is more then other shows... so.. Ciao!
March 10, 201115 yr does anyone know if they have the shows on the web? I can never seem to catch them when they are on :( -Sean L PPL + IFR, SEL HP/Complex.. LAS WN Ground Ops
March 11, 201115 yr IMO focusing on more technical details is the quickest way to make this show history. At the risk of hijacking the thread... ...Isn't it interesting that there are some who can't seem to wrap their heads around this concept as it relates to MS Flight and why Microsoft wants/needs to make the product more newbie friendly...Microsoft has declared that they want to make the experience more welcoming for new simulation users, and far too many people here on the forums are taking this to mean that the product will be entirely dumbed down. This is not the case, nor is this what has been told to us. Microsoft has reassured us that the fidelity and simulation aspects will remain as they are if not improve, and they will be adding features and functionality which improve the user experience for beginners. After all, Discovery Networks job is to sell advertising through popular and accessible programs, and Microsoft 's job is to sell software through popular and accessible programs! Now back to your regularly scheduled programming...
March 11, 201115 yr For every newbie wishing to do aerobatics in a 172, there is a seasoned FS veteren to match in his PMDG 744.So the real challenge then is to create a product that markets to both!Is Flight the answer? Nobody knows.
March 11, 201115 yr Shows like this never last very long because they do get repetitive (as does real life) fairly quickly. I am thankful for the show because it has really raised awareness of bush flying, and more specifically, it has given me a lot of ideas for hub development in that part of Alaska. I'm having a blast thanks to the Tweetos. Lose not thine airspeed, lest the ground rise up and smite thee.
March 12, 201115 yr Good point Syd. I fear after a while it's just going to turn into another lame family drama. With some flying. Though it definitely has given me motivation in flight simming,
